The La Liga season continues with a full slate of games for early in the week. With the spotlight firmly set on the top of the table, there is no doubt about where the focus is heading in to this week. Building the optimal DraftKings fantasy lineup is as much about finding the perfect sleeper picks as it is finding the right superstars to plug in to the lineup. Here is our look at the optimal DraftKings fantasy lineup for this week’s La Liga action.
GK: Diego Marino, Levante
Salary: $5,500
Marino has more than held his own in the Levante goal this season and while they still sit in the lower half of the table, a favorable matchup against Cordoba creates the perfect opportunity to slide him in to the lineup as a sleeper option this week. Marino will make his fair share of saves and the opportunity at bonus points for both the win and the potential clean sheet makes him an excellent fantasy play.
D: Dani Alves, Barcelona
Salary: $5,400
Barcelona’s championship bid continues this week at home against Getafe in a game they should undoubtedly win. With Alves, there is the perfect blend of both the potential for a clean sheet at the back end and the potential for him to push forward and join the attack. Alves has a lot to prove with it now clear he will be searching for a new home at the end of the season and he should be in for a strong fantasy performance at home.
D: Diego Godin, Atletico Madrid
Salary: $4,300
Godin has held things down in the middle of the Atletico Madrid defense and fans can expect another strong performance from him this week against Villarreal. Considering his price point, Godin is a strong fantasy play in this spot.
M: James Rodriguez, Real Madrid
Salary: $8,700
James has been an absolute fantasy stud since returning from injury for Real Madrid and he was in the spotlight again in Sunday’s 4-2 win over Celta Vigo when he scored and had an assist. James assisted on Chicarito’s goal and then scored from his only shot on goal with both points coming in the first half of play while also producing a game-high four crosses. He is definitely worth the play here versus Almeria.
M: Isco, Real Madrid
Salary: $5,000
Isco looked very good in Real Madrid’s win over Celta Vigo on Sunday and with Gareth Bale out, he will get another shot in the starting lineup as a very strong value play at $5,000. Isco had three crosses and a number of shots in Sunday’s game and with a little more luck his fantasy stat line could be even better versus Almeria.
F: Neymar, Barcelona
Salary: $9,800
Lionel Messi remains the top attacking option for Barcelona in terms of price point but Neymar is a sneaky play again this week as an equally capable fantasy forward that is available at $3,000 cheaper. Neymar has the potential to add to his strong fantasy season at home against Getafe on Tuesday and he is the perfect fit here thanks to a salary hit that makes him a very strong play here.
F: Antoine Griezmann, Atletico Madrid
Salary: $6,800
The French striker has looked very dangerous for Atletico both in Champions League and La Liga play. He is definitely worth investing in for a key clash against a Villarreal side that is looking to lock up the sixth spot in the table. Atletico has battled bouts of inconsistency all season but Griezmann is overdue for a big game.
FLEX: Dani Carvajal, Real Madrid
Salary: $4,300
There are plenty of attacking options up front for Real Madrid but Carvajal should be considered as a FLEX play here thanks to his versatility and price point combined with the fact that the team will want a better defensive effort here after allowing two goals to Celtta Vigo. A yellow card hurt Carvajal’s fantasy value even more in that last game but with the potential for a clean sheet, he is a strong play here as long as this contest goes a little better for Real Madrid at the defensive end of the field.
