The spotlight will remain at the top of the La Liga table this weekend with only two points separating Barcelona and Real Madrid for the top two spots. Both teams will look to capitalize on relatively favorable matchups this weekend, so it’s no surprise that players from the only remaining title contenders are the focus of our fantasy lineup this Saturday. Here is a look at the optimal lineup for Saturday’s DraftKings La Liga Daily Fantasy Leagues.
GK: Marc-Andre Ter Stegen, Barcelona
Salary: $5,600
There is a very good chance that Barcelona wins this weekend at home against Real Sociedad this weekend. To put that into perspective, they are a whopping -6736 favorite in that game. With that in mind and with Ter Stegen in fine form of late, it only makes sense to plug him in here as our starting goaltender at a very reasonable price. Real Sociedad has just 11 goals in 17 away games.
D: Dani Alves, Barcelona
Salary: $5,400
The potential for a clean sheet this weekend makes Barcelona defenders that much more attractive and we love Alves in this spot as a defender that can contribute at both ends of the pitch. Alves isn’t shy to jump up in the rush to join the attack. It’s both his desire to contribute at the offensive end and his reasonable price tag that makes us want to plug him in as our top defender.
D: Dani Carvajal, Real Madrid
Salary: $3,700
The best value on the board among Real Madrid defenders belongs to Carvajal as a player that will contribute. We don’t have to blow our bank on him, so we’ll save a little money here that we can spend somewhere else later on.
M: Ivan Rakitic, Barcelona
Salary: $4,900
Rakitic has perhaps the most upside of all of the Barcelona midfielders because of both his production and his relatively low price tag. That being the case, it makes sense to go with him in this spot as a bargain value play.
M: Youssef El Arabi, Granada
Salary: $4,000
The only player we will plug in that doesn’t belong to either Barcelona or Real Madrid is the Granada midfielder El Arabi, who has six goals this season and could very well add to that total with a favorable matchup versus Cordoba at home this weekend. Cordoba is dead last in the Spanish Primera table and has scored just 10 goals in 17 away games. That’s tied for the fewest in La Liga.
F: Neymar, Barcelona
Salary: $9,200
Barcelona is going to score its fair share of goals this weekend and while Lionel Messi will still be the top forward option for some, we are much more comfortable going with the other top options up front for La Liga’s most explosive offense. Neymar has been absolutely on fire for Barcelona of late and at $2,600 cheaper than Messi, it makes sense to take him here and use that money we save on the FLEX position.
F: Luis Suarez, Barcelona
Salary: $8,600
Suarez is the final option available from Barcelona’s three-headed forward attack and considering his outstanding form of late, it also makes sense to plug him in here. Suarez is $3,200 cheaper than Messi and with both Barcelona strikers in our lineup, there is a good chance that we will get at least an assist on every goal they score on Saturday.
FLEX: James Rodriguez, Real Madrid
Salary: $7,900
The leftover money we have isn’t enough to buy Cristiano Ronaldo but we don’t mind at all considering that James is still available at under $8,000. We can’t completely ignore the Real Madrid attack as it’s one of the most potent in La Liga even if they’re up against a solid Valencia squad. With James playing at an elite level since his return from injury, we feel very confident plugging him in at the FLEX spot with the money that we have saved elsewhere.
