Cardinals News: COO Ron Minegar Busted for DUI and More

Arizona Caridnals
All your rowdy friends are watching the Cowboys and Cardinals tonight.

Calling it “inexcusable,” the Arizona Cardinals released a statement condemning their own Chief Operating Officer, Ron Minegar, after he was arrested for allegedly driving under the influence.

“Ron Minegar’s actions last night are inexcusable,” the Cards said in a statement. “He made the decision to drive after drinking alcohol and is fortunate that he was pulled over before injuring anyone or himself. According to MADD, drunk driving results in almost 11,000 deaths per year and is the number one cause of fatalities on roadways. We fully recognize the seriousness of these actions and they will have serious consequences.”

Minegar isn’t the first Cardinals exec to run afoul of Arizona’s blood alcohol limit. Just 13 months ago, general manager Steve Keim was picked up for a DUI himself. At the time, Arizona called that arrest, “unacceptable and inexcusable,”

In spite of fining Keim $200,000 and suspending him for five games, that message was apparently not heard throughout the building.

According to reports, Minegar was stopped around 11:30 p.m. PT in Chandler, Ariz. for speeding, failure to drive in a single lane and driving in a bicycle lane.

Minegar has been with the club for 20 seasons in one capacity or another, so I don’t think they’ll fire him. This certainly doesn’t look good for the organization, having two execs busted for the same offense in barely over a year. There could be some discipline from the NFL coming too for that alone.

CARDINALS TRANSACTIONS

Defensive lineman Pasoni Tasini will rejoin the Arizona Cardinals after playing a single game with the team last season. He spent the rest of the time on the Cards’ practice squad.

Tight end Charles Clay and cornerback Brandon Williams were activated from the Physically Unable to Perform List.
