Over the past several years, the transfer market has become a pivotal part of the national conversation when it comes to the college basketball season. Programs from at every level are taking chances on these transfers, and many have paid off.
Names like T.J. McConnell at Arizona, Rodney Hood at Duke, and certainly Joseph Young at Oregon never would have been the household names like they are today had their schools not snatched them off the transfer wires.
This year is no different, with several names popping up on the market. Here are some of the top names.
Shonn Miller, Cornell: A big time stretch forward that averaged 16.8 points, 6.5 points per game. Miller has already been contacted by several high-major programs and will be immediately eligible as a graduate transfer.
Damion Lee, Drexel: Another high-level scorer that will be making the leap up in competition, Lee averaged 21.4 points and 6.1 rebounds a game before missing the final month of the season with a hand injury. Sources tell GMS that Maryland could be a player here, as he is a Baltimore native and former AAU teammate of Melo Trimble.
Marcus Foster, Kansas State: His sophomore season in Manhattan was a bit of a roller coaster due to injuries and discipline issues, but Foster is a dynamic scorer that could be a major grab for another program.
Anton Gill, Louisville: Gill may have been the Sweet 16 hero for the Cardinals, but his lack of consistent playing time was ultimately too much of an issue to justify remaining in Rick Pitino’s program. Gill could be a prime candidate to transfer down a level.
Stanford Robinson, Indiana: Another transfer from a prominent program, Robinson was a key recruiting win for Tom Crean just three years ago. Robinson saw his playing time and productivity drop as a sophomore, and will be looking to regain his prior form elsewhere.
