Central Arkansas Bears – New Orleans Privateers Preview – 01.25.2016

The Central Arkansas Bears will be at Lakefront Arena to take on the New Orleans Privateers in a Southland matchup. The game gets underway at 8:00 pm ET on Monday, Jan. 25.

The Privateers got blown out by Texas A&M-Corpus Christi 97-76 on Saturday. Erik Thomas recorded 16 points and 15 rebounds, earning his second double-double of the year. The Bears, meanwhile, are coming off a 94-83 win over Nicholls on Saturday. Derreck Brooks shot 11 for 16 and led in scoring with 29 points.

Over the last five games, Brooks and Jordan Howard have been on a tear for the Bears. During that stretch, Brooks has averaged 17.8 points, 8.6 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 2.4 steals, 1.2 blocks, and 1.8 three-pointers. Not to be outdone, Howard has put up 22.6 points, 5.2 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 1.2 steals, and 4.2 three-pointers.

It could be a sloppy game for the Central Arkansas offense, which ranks 302nd in the nation in ball security (TO% of 20.7%). It’ll be facing the gambling New Orleans defense, which forces the 17th-most turnovers in the nation (23.2%).
