CFL Betting: The Hamilton Tiger-Cats had a very good season a year ago as they made the Grey Cup but they couldn’t take the final step as they were routed by the Saskatchewan Roughriders in the title game. The 2014 Hamilton Tiger-Cats are actually going to look a lot different than last year’s squad as they will have a new starting quarterback and a number of other newcomers. Let’s take a look at the 2014 Hamilton Tiger-Cats including their schedule for this season.
Hamilton Tiger-Cats Counting on Collaros
The Hamilton Tiger-Cats made the Grey Cup last season with Henry Burris at quarterback but the team didn’t bring him back. Instead they signed Zach Collaros who played well in relief of Ricky Ray for the Toronto Argonauts last season. Collaros threw for 2,316 yards in 14 games with the Argos last season. “He has the exact demeanor you want in your quarterback,” second-year receiver Luke Tasker said. “Good play or bad play, he comes back to the next play and that’s the only thing he is focused on. It’s the thing I admire most about him.”
Collaros will get some help in the backfield from CJ Gable who was fourth in the league in rushing last season. The team also added Cary Koch to a receiving corps that already included Andy Fantuz, Bakari Grant, Tasker and Greg Ellingson.
Team Notes
The Hamilton Tiger-Cats need to improve in pass protection and in pass rushing as they were eighth in the league in both areas. The Hamilton Tiger-Cats won 10 games last year but it wasn’t easy and there is no margin for error this year. If the team can keep Collaros upright they have a chance to match those 10 wins in 2014 and make another run at the Grey Cup.
