CFL Betting: Week 11 Rundown

Week 11 of the CFL season includes some unique scheduling with the Toronto Argonauts forced to play two games over a span of six days. The Argonauts will open week 11 against the BC Lions at home on Wednesday before making the short trip down the 401 to face the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the Labour Day Classic on Monday. Here is a look at the CFL betting rundown for week 11.

Wednesday August 31

BC Lions @ Toronto Argonauts

CFL Betting Odds: BC -3.5

The Lions responded to their disappointing loss to the Calgary Stampeders with a quality road win against the Ottawa Redblacks last week to improve to 4-1 on the road this season. BC will look to stay hot on the road this week and it will be interesting to see how the Argonauts respond with Ricky Ray making his return. Toronto is coming off a bye but they have struggled at home with a 1-4 record at BMO Field this season. Ray’s return should help keep things interesting put it won’t be enough for the Argonauts to cover the spread.

Pick: BC -3.5

Thursday September 1

Ottawa Redblacks @ Montreal Alouettes

CFL Betting Odds: Ottawa -2.5

The Redblacks are searching for answers after Trevor Harris’s return to the lineup failed to help them snap their losing streak. Ottawa dropped a 29-23 loss to BC and has now lost four of its last five games overall. It won’t get any easier with a tough rivalry matchup against Montreal, although the Alouettes will be without Duron Carter after his suspension was finally upheld by an independent arbitrator. The Redblacks are clearly the more talented team so maybe this is the week that Harris finds his early season form and leads them to an impressive victory on the road.

Pick: Ottawa -2.5

Sunday September 4

Winnipeg Blue Bombers @ Saskatchewan Roughriders

CFL Betting Odds: Winnipeg -5.5

Saskatchewan is sliding in the wrong direction once again and they are going to be in tough to end their five-game skid when they start a home-and-home series with the Blue Bombers on Sunday. Winnipeg has an excellent opportunity to continue its climb in the West in this series and with the offense showing signs of improvement under Matt Nichols. The defense playing at a very high level they should have no problem winning and covering the spread against the Roughriders. They started the year in poor fashion but have been one of the better teams to bet over the last handful of weeks. Stick with that theme here as they should win and cover the spread.

Pick: Winnipeg -5.5

Monday September 5

Edmonton Eskimos @ Calgary Stampeders

CFL Betting Odds: Calgary -6.5

The Stampeders are coming off their biggest win of the season after taking down Hamilton on the road in a potential Grey Cup preview last week. Calgary has won six straight to climb to the top of the CFL standings and the balance they have shown on both sides of the football has been incredible impressive. Bo Levi Mitchell has found his rhythm as one of the top quarterbacks in the league but can’t afford a letdown this week with Mike Reilly leading the Eskimos in to town. The Stampeders should be able to extend their win streak, just don’t expect them to cover the touchdown against an Edmonton team that should be fired up with an opportunity to end the streak.

Pick: Edmonton +6.5

Monday September 5

Toronto Argonauts @ Hamilton Tiger-Cats

CFL Betting Odds: Hamilton -3.5

Penalties doomed the Tiger-Cats in last week’s loss to Calgary but Kent Austin will make sure the discipline issues are cleaned up this week and Hamilton will have had plenty of time to prepare for this key rivalry game. The Argonauts will be in a tough spot getting up for a rivalry game on short rest after playing the Lions six days earlier and a lopsided loss to BC could lead to this spread being even larger. The seats will be full at Tim Hortons Field for the Labour Day Classic and the Tiger-Cats should have no problem keeping the fans on their feet with former Argos quarterback Zach Collaros leading the way in a big win at home.

Pick: Hamilton -3.5
