CFL DFS Breakdown: Week 6

cfl

The first five weeks of the CFL season are in the books. While a lot can change between now and the end of the year our sample size is big enough to have a good idea of what to expect in terms of ranking the best players at each position looking forward to fantasy competitions for Week 6. Here is our DFS breakdown for Week 6 of the CFL season.

Quarterback

Mike Reilly vs. BC, $11,000

Reilly has yet to hit his stride with 1,216 passing yards and seven touchdowns so far this season but he will need to be at his best against BC this week. The Lions are coming off a shootout win over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. This week’s game could come down to which quarterback delivers the better performance between Reilly and Travis Lulay.

Bo Levi Mitchell vs. Hamilton, $10,800

Mitchell has put up some big numbers this season while proving he should be at or near the top of the list every week in terms of fantasy options at the quarterback position. A home game against a reeling Tiger-Cats defense will provide another opportunity for Mitchell to put up elite numbers this week.

Ricky Ray at Saskatchewan, $10,000

Ray has been one of the most consistent quarterbacks in the CFL through five weeks with at least 300 passing yards in every start. Ray should be able to continue rolling in Saskatchewan this weekend with a favorable matchup against the Roughriders on Saturday.

Running Back

Jeremiah Johnson at Edmonton, $7,600

Johnson leads the CFL with five rushing touchdowns and ranks second in the CFL with 313 rushing yards so far this season. The Lions will need him at his best for a tough matchup against the Eskimos this weekend.

Andrew Harris vs. Montreal, $7,500

Harris has averaged 4.3 yards per carry while rushing for 199 yards and two touchdowns for the Blue Bombers. Winnipeg will likely lean on Harris even more against the Montreal defense, which should make him an excellent option once again this week.

Jerome Messam vs. Hamilton, $7,000

Messame leads the CFL with 323 rushing yards, averaging 4.3 yards per carry so far this season. The Stampeders have the potential to run up the score against the visiting Tiger-Cats this weekend. Messam could easily rank at the top fantasy running back for Week 6.

Wide Receiver

Brandon Zylstra vs. BC, $8,900

Edmonton’s Adarius Bowman and BC’s Chris Williams are both injured, which leaves Zylstra as the top wide receiver option that is actually healthy heading in to Week 6. Zylstra has 29 catches for 409 yards this season but he is still looking for his first touchdown. It won’t be a surprise if it comes against the visiting Lions this week.

S.J. Green at Saskatchewan, $8,600

Green has lived up to expectations early on in his first season with Toronto as he ranks second in the CFL with 518 receiving yards. Green should be in for another strong performance this week against the Roughriders defense.

Kamar Jorden at Calgary, $8,500

Jorden has been excellent for Calgary early on with 31 catches for 468 yards and four touchdowns in five games. The Stampeders should put up big numbers against the Hamilton defense and that could mean another big game for Jorden.

Naaman Roosevelt vs. Toronto, $8,400

The Roughriders combined for 77 points in their previous two games before hitting a wall last week against Calgary. They will need a strong performance from Roosevelt in order ot bounce back this week so he could be in line for a big game at home versus Toronto.

Defense/Special Teams

Stampeders vs. Hamilton, $5,300

The Tiger-Cats hit rock bottom with their collapse at home to Edmonton last week. Now they will have to travel across the country to take on the best team in the CFL in Calgary. This game could get ugly.

Argonauts at Saskatchewan $4,900

The Argonauts will study the tape of what the Calgary defense did last week to keep the Saskatchewan offense in check and attempt to replicate it. The Roughriders managed just 251 yards and 10 points in last week’s loss. It might not get much better against Toronto.

Lions at Edmonton, $4,800

The Lions survived a shootout against the Blue Bombers last week and while they would like to get back to playing better defense it won’t be easy in Week 6. Edmonton’s offense will present many different challenges. It might be a better idea to pass on the BC defense in fantasy competitions this week.
