CFL Odds: The British Columbia Lions are favored to win the 2014 Grey Cup. They are a slight favorite over the Calgary Stampeders and the defending champions, the Saskatchewan Roughriders. The British Columbia Lions have been a popular choice in CFL futures the past couple of years but they have fallen short and been a disappointment. Can the team come through and win the Grey Cup this season?
British Columbia Lions Feeling the Pressure
The British Columbia Lions won the Grey Cup in 2011 but in the last two years they have disappointed their fans. This year the pressure is really on because the Grey Cup will be played in British Columbia at BC Place and in the past three years, the home team has not only made the Grey Cup final, they have won it. The B.C. Lions won it in 2011, the Toronto Argonauts won it in 2012 and last year it was the Saskatchewan Roughriders taking the title.
Lulay and Glenn
The British Columbia Lions have a very good quarterback in Travis Lulay but he oftentimes is not on the field. He had a shoulder injury last year and the team felt compelled to get a quality backup so they went and got Kevin Glenn. It should be Lulay who starts the season but Glenn will be ready if Lulay gets hurt.
Team Notes
The British Columbia Lions were hurt by retirements as veteran center Angus Reid, tackle Ben Archibald and Patrick Kabongo all decided to hang it up. Last year the British Columbia Lions were good on defense but just average on offense. If they can keep Lulay healthy they should be improved in 2014.
