CFL Predictions: The Edmonton Eskimos will look to win their second game of the season as they host the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on the 4th of July. Edmonton shocked the British Columbia Lions last week, winning 27-20 on the road. The Eskimos were expected to be improved but they were still not expected to win their opener on the road. Now the team comes back home as they host Hamilton on Friday night. Here is a look at the game and CFL predictions.
Red-Hot Reilly
The Eskimos got a big game from quarterback Mike Reilly in the opener as he threw for 229 yards and three touchdowns. Reilly was very efficient and he only made one mistake as he threw just a single interception. He was able to hit receiver Adarius Bowman a total of 9 times for 105 yards.
Improved Edmonton Defense
The Eskimos were awful last season on defense but in the opener they were solid as they held down a potent B.C. offense. They also forced turnovers, something they didn’t do much last season as they were last in the league.
Series Notes
Edmonton has won six of the last ten in this series. The teams met twice last season with each team winning on the road. The Eskimos won 30-20 in Hamilton while the Tiger-Cats won 30-29 at Edmonton. Three of the last four meetings have gone over the total. The Edmonton Eskimos have taken 8 of the last 10 at home in this series with five of the last six going over.
CFL Predictions
I was definitely impressed by the Eskimos in their opener and I think they can carry that momentum over into this game on Friday. They will also get an extra day of rest as they played on Saturday while the Hamilton Tiger-Cats played on Sunday. I will take the home team to win this one and also play the game over the CFL betting total.
