CFL Odds: It was ugly last season for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers as they went 3-15 straight up and 5-12-1 against the spread. The team does have a new general manager in Kyle Walters, a new head coach in Mike O’Shea and a new starting quarterback in Drew Willy. The team will also be playing in the West Division this season instead of in the East. Will all of the changes matter? Let’s look at the team and their 2014 schedule.
O’Shea Injects Optimism
The Winnipeg Blue Bombers look to have made a good move in hiring Mike O’Shea. He had a very good playing career and did well as special teams coordinator with Toronto. Most people around the league believe he will be a very good head coach. The team did keep Marcel Bellefeuille as offensive coordinator and they added Drew Willy at quarterback and wide receiver Korey Banks.
Team Notes
The Winnipeg Blue Bombers were hoping to get Zach Collaros as their quarterback but they lost out in the bidding sweepstakes. They had to settle for getting Drew Willy who has thrown just 147 passes in his career. They had better hope Willy is the answer because the backup is Brian Brohm.
The team did lose Terrence Edwards to retirement but they added Nick Moore to replace him. The team scored the fewest points in the league a year ago and they allowed the most per game. The team also was terrible a year ago in giveaways as they turned it over 64 times. Their giveaway/takeaway ratio was -27 last season.
CFL Predictions
It likely won’t be a winning season for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in 2014 but they should be improved enough to win more than three games.
