Chisora vs Pulev Heavyweight Boxing Odds For Saturday

Chisora vs Pulev Heavyweight Boxing Odds

Chisora vs Pulev Heavyweight Boxing Odds – Hamburg, Germany is the site of Dereck Chisora vs Kubrat Pulev this coming Saturday.

In today’s re-invigorated heavyweight division, this is a match to watch because the winner will be that much closer to a world title bout. The match has been set as an IBF world title “eliminator” which means the winner will be that much closer to earning a shot at Anthony Joshua, who holds that title.

Of the two fighters, it is Pulev who is the closest to the top. The well respected Transnational Boxing Rankings Board has Pulev as the #6 ranked active heavyweight today. Pulev, a tough and mobile heavyweight out of Bulgaria, has a wide amateur background and he entered a world title fight with Wladimir Klitschko in November of 2014 undefeated at 20-0. Klitschko stopped Pulev cold in the 5th round in what may prove to be his penultimate win and Pulev subsequently tested positive for PEDs and served a suspension.

Pulev returned in October of 2015 and he has logged two wins in eight round bouts to tune himself back up. At 34 years old, Pulev has to feel like he has a shot at a world title in the post-Klitschko era. The problem for him is drawing power, as Pulev is not a box office attraction as of yet.

Chisora also is trying to bounce back from a harsh defeat. Interestingly, his last loss also came in November of 2014, and it came at the hands of Tyson Fury. Fury is now the holder of multiple world titles and the vanquisher of Wladimir Klitschko, and Chisora has engaged in a long-standing feud with Fury. The November of 2014 meeting was in fact a re-match, and though Fury is 2-0 against Chisora, Chisora may be able to create interest in a third fight with a big win over Pulev. Since his defeat by Fury, Chisora has taken the yeoman’s rout, going 5-0 and fighting frequently. The bottom line is those fights were against inferior competition and he got little credit for the wins. That will not be the case if he can pull out the win this Saturday.

Chisora, despite his setbacks, is probably more of a draw than Pulev, especially if the target is the Brit champion Joshua. But he is going to be a bit smaller than Pulev in this fight, and he is certainly going to be the underdog. If he can breakthrough and score the victory over Pulev, it will put him that much closer to victory.
