The Clemson Tigers will face one more difficult test before they turn their attention to the postseason. It will be interesting to see if they can take care of business against a rival opponent in order to add to their momentum heading in to the most important time of the year. Clemson will end the regular season on the road at the South Carolina Gamecocks in its final stop before the ACC Championship game versus the Miami Hurricanes. The Tigers have won three in a row in this series so there is no doubt South Carolina will be motivated to end that run at home this weekend.

Reasons To Bet On The Clemson Tigers
Clemson embarrassed the Gamecocks when these teams met a year ago. The Tigers have the potential to do it again with an absolutely loaded offense that is peaking heading in to the postseason. Junior quarterback Kelly Bryant is coming off one of his best games of the season after throwing for 230 yards and three touchdowns in a 61-3 win over The Citadel. Bryant is also one of three Clemson players with at least 600 rushing yards this season, joining running backs Travis Etienne and Tavien Feaster. The Tigers will attempt to establish the run game early and open up more space for Bryant to go over the top with some big shots down the field. Deon Cain and Hunter Renfrow are both capable weapons in the passing game and if they get going then the Tigers could make this a long day for football fans in South Carolina. Clemson will need to be careful to avoid getting caught looking too far ahead to its game against Miami. Head coach Dabo Swinney should be able to keep his team focused on this week’s showdown.
Reasons To Bet On The South Carolina Gamecocks
The Gamecocks have plenty of motivation to upset the rival Tigers and make an absolute statement at home this weekend. South Carolina had no problem taking down Florida and Wofford ahead of its biggest game of the season. The Gamecocks have already put together a solid season under head coach Will Muschamp, who will have his team motivated for a monster performance this week with a chance to lock in a signature win. The defense will be tested after giving up an average of 19.6 points per game this season. It will be interesting to see if they can keep the Clemson offense in check. Meanwhile, it will fall on the shoulders of sophomore quarterback Jake Bentley to put up some decent numbers if the offense is going to hold its own. Bentley threw for 194 yards and a touchdown in last week’s win over Wofford but could be challenged to do more this week. Meanwhile, the Gamecocks will deliver a steady dose of the run with running backs A.J. Turner and Ty’Son Williams. If they can establish the run early on then it could pay major dividends in terms of keeping the crowd in it and winning the possession game versus a tough Tigers team.
Outlook
Clemson opened up as a 14-point road favorite but the line has come down a little bit since. The Tigers are now laying -13.5. As for the total, it opened at 46.5 and that’s where it currently is.
The biggest concern for Clemson football fans is whether or not they can remain focused and close out their regular season with another win without suffering any significant injuries. The Tigers have the talent to take care of business but it isn’t like they will roll over the Gamecocks without any significant pushback. South Carolina should be able to do enough to stick around in this rivalry game. The Gamecocks are getting two touchdowns as a home underdog so it won’t be a surprise if they covered the spread in a closer result than expected.
Pick: Clemson -13.5
