Jadeveon Clowney has officially started his holdout. The star defensive end for the Houston Texans was hit with the franchise tag this offseason and has yet to sign it as he’s looking for a long term deal. With mandatory minicamps underway, Clowney has decided not to report. According to the Texans, signing Clowney long term is “still the plan.” Last season Clowney recorded 47 tackles, 16 for a loss, one pass defense, one forced fumble, three fumble recoveries and nine sacks.
Texans mandatory minicamp starts Tuesday, but as their unsigned franchise player, Jadeveon Clowney is not expected to attend.

Jags’ Ngakoue holding out
Jacksonville Jaguars defensive end Yannick Ngakoue has officially started his holdout as he tries to get a new contract with the team by skipping the team’s mandatory minicamp. Ngakoue is in the final year of his rookie deal. Ngakoue was a third round pick in 2016 out of Maryland and has easily played well enough to expect a long-term deal. Last season he recorded 28 tackles, 13 for a loss, one pass defense and 9.5 sacks.
#Jaguars DE Yannick Ngakoue says: “I will not be attending minicamp as my contract has not been resolved. I remain committed to Jax, the fans & my teammates. My hope is to be with Jacksonville for years to come.” He showed up for OTAs, found little contract movement. Now he’s out
