The weekend is here, with Saturday once again bringing an electric slate of games to keep an eye on. National Analyst William Whelan is here to break down the best college basketball ATS picks on the table today.
No. 21 Texas A&M at Tennessee: Texas A&M -5
This is a potential trap game for the Aggies. Tennessee has shown a few signs of life this season by not losing at home, and Texas A&M looked less than convincing in a win over Mississippi State. I’m taking the Vols here ATS.
No. 3 Maryland at Wisconsin: Maryland -4
The health of Melo Trimble is always a concern for Maryland, but the Terps still have the roster advantage here. Wisconsin blew out Rutgers before sticking with Indiana, leading me to believe a bit of a corner has been turned here, for them. Working for Maryland, though, is the fact that they have the ability to close teams from the line, to the tune of 76-percent. I’m rolling with the Terps here.
No. 17 West Virginia vs. Oklahoma State: WVU -13.5
Home game against an average opponent who doesn’t have electric guard play? This is Mountaineer heaven. Most times, I’m tempted to go with the double-digit underdog, but not here. Give me Bob Huggins’ group.
No. 13 Iowa State vs. Baylor: ISU -7.5
Baylor got some mojo back against Oklahoma State, but they don’t have the balance to stick with the Cyclones. The size of the spread is obviously a concern, but the location of the game gives me confidence in ISU showing up for a big Big 12 game. Cyclones, baby.
No. 22 South Carolina vs. Vanderbilt: USC -3.5
New money versus old money here in the South, with the Commodores needing a win and badly. Which is exactly why I’m rolling with the underdog here. Vanderbilt has the front court to give USC some trouble inside.
No. 24 Pittsburgh at Notre Dame: ND -4.5
No one has been talking about the Fighting Irish for quite sometime, which is something I think will change after they knock off the Panthers in South Bend.
No. 7 Arizona at USC: UA -2.5
The Wildcats are a mess defensively and they’ve got an explosive Trojans group up next, but I think the loss to UCLA was enough of a wake up call to have them prepared for this one. Roll with Arizona.
