Texas Tech Red Raiders at Kansas State Wildcats Betting Preview

Kansas State is entering this Big 12 game as the underdog and is currently getting 6 points. The Red Raiders are also receiving -240 moneyline odds while the Wildcats are +190. Oddsmakers have set the over/under (O/U) at 57 points. If the underdog gets ahead early, it would likely create a nice in-game betting opportunity.

The sharp action has been siding with the Red Raiders. The opening line was 4 and the game’s over/under hasn’t moved after it was initially set at 57.

The profitable Red Raiders have recorded 4.6 units so far and are 6-4 against the spread (ATS). The team’s recorded an O/U mark of 8-2. The Wildcats have lost 0.3 units this season. The team is 5-5 ATS and has an O/U record of 2-7.

The Red Raiders have gone 5-5 straight up (SU), including 3-4 SU against conference opponents. The Wildcats are 4-6 SU overall and are also 2-5 SU in conference play.

When these two schools met last year, Kansas State won by a touchdown 42-35.

The Red Raiders will look to get back on track after a 41-34 defeat to Texas last week. The Red Raiders defense allowed the Longhorns to pass for 312 yards and four touchdowns while rushing for 157 yards. On the offense, Jett Duffey completed 37 passes on 47 attempts for 444 yards, four scores and one interception. Duffey (80 rushing yards on 17 attempts) also spearheaded the ground attack and was complemented by Da’Leon Ward (41 yards on 10 carries). Antoine Wesley (eight receptions, 171 yards, two TDs) and T.J. Vasher (eight catches, 87 yards, two TDs) handled the receiving duties in the defeat.

Kansas State just earned a 21-17 win over Kansas. Alex Delton completed 11-of-17 passes for 126 yards. Alex Barnes (117 rushing yards on 22 attempts, two TDs) and the signal-caller Delton (55 yards on 16 carries, one TD) mounted the running attack as Dalton Schoen (three receptions, 48 yards) and Wykeen Gill (three catches, 22 yards) led the pass-catching attack in the win.

Texas Tech has run the ball on 44.9 percent of its offensive possessions this year while Kansas State has a rush percentage of 63.4 percent. The Red Raiders have run for 146 yards/game (including 133 per game versus Big 12 opponents) and have 25 touchdowns on the ground this year. The Wildcats are logging 179 rushing yards per game (180 in conference) and have 18 total rush TDs.

It appears that the Red Raiders could have an advantage when it comes to quarterback protection. Their offensive line has yielded just 29 sacks while the D-line registered 18 sacks. The Wildcats O-line has allowed 24 sacks and their defense has sacked opposing QBs on just 24 occasions.

The Red Raiders offense has averaged a stellar 383 yards in the air overall (355 per game versus conference opposition) and has 26 passing scores so far. The Wildcats have recorded 155 pass yards per outing (144.6 in the Big 12) and have seven total pass TDs.

Texas Tech has let opponents rush for an average of 160 yards and pass for 294 yards per game. The Kansas State D has given up 246.2 yards per game to opposing passers and 170.5 yards per game on the ground. The Wildcats are allowing an adjusted net yards per pass attempt (ANY/A) of only 6.24 to opposing QBs, while the Red Raiders have given up a 7.14 ANY/A.

Offensively, Duffey has put up 932 passing yards this season. The signal-caller has completed 69 percent of his 110 attempts with six passing scores and five interceptions. He has a 6.80 adjusted net yards per pass attempt overall, although that number sits at 9.01 over the last two games.

Alex Delton has completed 29-of-55 passes for 399 yards, one TD and two INTs for Kansas State. His ANY/A sits at a less-than-ideal 4.01 for the year and 5.19 across his last two games.
