This is becoming comical. Like Wile E. Coyote chasing the Road Runner, I keep coming close to hitting a college football parlay each week, only for my chances to implode and my hopes and dreams to go up in smoke. The three legs of my parlay individually went 1-2 on the college football betting line, but one of those plays lost by one point, while the other team to fail me was Memphis after saving face for my picks last week.
UAB was the one team that made me look like I knew what I was doing last week. The Blazers were able to knock off a North Texas team that many people were over the moon for, and in doing so, solidify their position in Conference USA. I’m tempted to follow them again this week against UTEP, just like I did with Memphis, but I can’t go through a team betraying me again so soon.

The first leg of this parlay is a Thursday night game, so you’ll know early whether or not this parlay has a chance to be a winner.
In the same vein of last week’s train of thought with UAB, I like Georgia Southern quite a bit here. The Eagles are an underrated team. They have lost just one time all season, on the road to Clemson, and they have largely had their way with other Sun Belt teams.
Appalachian State comes into this game with Georgia Southern ranked in the AP Top 25 for the first time in school history, so the Eagles will have some extra motivation when they take the field here. Although they probably aren’t as good of a team as Appalachian State, I like their chances here because of the offense they run.
Chad Lunsford has Georgia Southern running the triple option again. Facing that offense off of a short week is tough, and Appalachian State is unlikely to be fully prepared with just a few days of practicing for it. That will make things very interesting for the frontrunners in the Sun Belt.
In the second leg of my parlay, I’m laying a lot of points with Utah State. The Aggies have been one of the best Group of Five teams in the nation this year, and they have won six straight games after a seven-point loss to Michigan State at the start of the season. They are coming off of a close win against a Wyoming team that has one of the best defenses in the Mountain West, and they will be ready to explode against a subpar defense in New Mexico.
New Mexico hasn’t looked like the disaster we thought they might be, but this is a team that is 3-4 on the year. The Lobos have a defense that is ranked outside of the top 100 in the nation according to S&P+. and they have some major problems at quarterback. Tevaka Tuioti and Coltin Gerhart are both sidelined, and Sheriron Jones has had trouble moving the ball for the Lobos.
The Lobos look like they might implode soon given the questions continuing to surround Bob Davie, so laying the points with Utah State is a safe play.
