College Football: Week 7’s Best Televised Games

It’s already week seven of the college football season and after some thrilling upsets and surprising rises and falls across the country, we are in line for another loaded Saturday this weekend. The action begins with a massive SEC showdown that features two top-10 teams and wraps up with the Big Ten stealing the spotlight for another clash of top-10 programs in the prime time slot. Here is a look at the four-best televised college football games for week seven.

#1 Alabama @ #9 Tennessee

Saturday, 3:30 PM ET – CBS

The game of the week belongs to the SEC with top-ranked Alabama making the trip to Tennessee for a clash of top-10 teams. The Vols are coming off their first loss of the season but they have been in several exciting games and they are very capable of pulling off an upset at home. Tennessee has had this game circled for months and they could benefit from the fact that the Tide are facing their second ranked opponent on the road in as many weeks. There has been a lot of talk about Alabama’s potential to repeat as national champions this season but that would change in a hurry if the Vols managed to pull off the upset this Saturday.

Are the Vols feeling a bit down after last week’s effort? Quite likely. They were extremely careless with the football and yet they still nearly left College Station with a win. All will be forgotten and forgiven if they can pull this upset, but they are a two-touchdown home underdog, which tells you just how unlikely a win is to happen.

Pick: Tennessee +13

North Carolina @ #16 Miami

Saturday, 3:30 PM ET – ABC

It might not get the same attention that Alabama-Tennessee receives but the “U” will host the Tar Heels this week in a crucial matchup for both programs. Miami is coming off its first loss of the season but can keep its ACC championship hopes alive with a bounce back performance at home against a formidable opponent. Meanwhile, the Tar Heels are coming off a shocking blowout loss to Virginia Tech so they will be looking to bounce back with a statement win as they look to pull off the upset. Both teams need to rebound in the worst way after their seasons were derailed.

Look for North Carolina to keep this college football game close with a very good chance this one goes down to the wire in Miami.

Pick: North Carolina +7

#12 Ole Miss @ #22 Arkansas

Saturday, 7:00 PM ET – ESPN

Arkansas dropped to 0-2 in SEC play with a tough loss to Alabama last week and it won’t get any easier for them with the Rebels in town this week. Ole Miss bounced back from its loss to the Tide with back-to-back wins over Georgia and Memphis and they certainly can’t afford to let their foot off the gas with back-to-back road games at Arkansas and LSU. The Rebels certainly look like a team with the talent to make some serious noise in the SEC even after their loss to Alabama but they need to get this big win on the road on Saturday. It won’t be as easy as some people think with the Razorbacks throwing everything they have at Ole Miss as home underdogs for this college football game.

Pick: Arkansas +8

#2 Ohio State @ #8 Wisconsin

Saturday, 8:00 PM ET – ABC

The Big Ten gets the primetime slot Saturday night for a massive showdown between the Buckeyes and Badgers. Ohio State has rolled to five straight wins to begin this season but this will be their toughest test of the year so far with the Badgers coming off a close 14-7 loss at Michigan a couple of weeks ago. Wisconsin had the extra week off to prepare for this showdown and should be able to slow down J.T. Barrett and the Buckeyes attack. The Badgers need more out of their offense in order to have a shot to win this game outright and it will be interesting to see how they perform in a massive primetime showdown. They really struggled in their biggest game of the season when they were worked over by Michigan a couple of weeks ago. The odds makers aren’t expecting a Buckeyes stumble here as they are a huge road college football favorite in this spot.

Pick: Wisconsin +11
