College Football’s Can’t Miss Games For Week 5: Alabama Enters As The Underdog Against Georgia

Is Georgia for real?

There has been no shortage of intriguing matchups early on this college football season and that trend will certainly continue this weekend with a handful of games that fans will want to make sure they don’t miss. No. 4 TCU is undefeated after an epic showdown with Texas Tech but will face another tough test against Big 12 rival Texas while a pair of ranked teams will clash in the SEC with No. 8 Georgia looking to stay undefeated against No. 13 Alabama. Here is a break down of the can’t-miss games this weekend:

Texas Longhorns @ No. 4 TCU Horned Frogs

Saturday, 12:00 PM ET

TCU survived a thrilling showdown with Texas Tech, winning 55-52 with the most unlikely of game-winning touchdowns. The game included 11 lead changes, nearly 1,400 yards of total offense and 69 first downs. Now they return home to take on a deflated Texas team that continues to find different ways to lose close games (on special teams). However, nobody is overlooking the Longhorns and the potential for an upset here. The Horned Frogs have given up a combined 89 points over their last two games as coach Gary Patterson has had to deal with a plethora of defensive injuries. If it wasn’t for the outstanding play of quarterback Trevone Boykin, they might have actually lost one of those games. TCU should find a way to stay undefeated at home but after a couple of close calls, we can’t wait to see what happens against Texas on Saturday.

No. 13 Alabama Crimson Tide @ No. 8 Georgia Bulldogs

Saturday, 3:30 PM ET

This is the game where we find out how good Georgia really is. Alabama can’t afford a second loss this season while Georgia can’t afford anything less than going undefeated, so something will have to give when these two SEC teams clash this weekend. The Tide bounced back from a tough loss to Ole Miss by shutting down Louisiana Monroe in a 34-0 win in which they gave up only 92 total yards. However, that’s ULM. They will face a much tougher test against a Bulldogs team that is led by its star running back Nick Chubb this week. The potential is there for plenty of fireworks. One name that hasn’t come up enough is that of Alabama’s star running back Derrick Henry as he has been somewhat overshadowed by Chubb and LSU’s Leonard Fournette, but look for him to have a massive performance this weekend and give the Tide a chance to win on the road in a hostile environment.

Kansas State Wildcats @ No. 20 Oklahoma State Cowboys

Saturday, 4:00 PM ET

The Cowboys are the forgotten team in the Big 12 race but they are up to No. 20 in the AP rankings following a 4-0 start. If they can get more consistent play from the quarterback position, they will have the potential to make some noise in their conference this season. After throwing three interceptions last week, Mason Randolph split touches with J.W. Walsh and the bottom line is that Oklahoma State simply can’t afford to make those mistakes this week against Kansas State. The Cowboys should be able to find a way to win this game but look for the Wildcats to keep it close.

Arizona Wildcats @ No. 18 Stanford Cardinal

Saturday, 10:30 PM ET

The Cardinal responded to their season-opening loss at Northwestern by ripping off three straight wins – including a pair of impressive lopsided victories at USC and Oregon State in the Pac-12. Now they’re suddenly back on the map as the No. 18 team in the country. Arizona is coming off a tough loss to UCLA in which it lost both the game and possibly starting quarterback Anu Solomon, but if Solomon can play, the Wildcats will have the potential to make this one of the more entertaining games of the week. Stanford is a tough team to beat at home – especially if quarterback Kevin Hogan is on his game – but he’s inconsistent. Arizona isn’t as bad as they showed last week. They’re anxious to make amends and a visit to The Farm gives them exactly the opportunity to do that.
