The Rockies are 26-23 SU and have gone 26-22 against the spread (ATS). They’ve gained 5.6 units for bettors taking the moneyline in this young season and 5.9 units ATS. Colorado has covered the spread four times in its last seven games and the under has hit in three of those seven. The Dodgers, on the other hand, are 21-27 SU and 17-30 ATS. They’ve lost 24.8 units for bettors taking the moneyline and 15.3 units ATS. Los Angeles has covered the spread four times in its last seven games and the under has hit in four of those seven.

Los Angeles games have an over/under record of 23-23-1 so far in 2018. The Rockies have been a decent under bet with a total record of 18-27-3.

Kyle Freeland will get the nod for the visiting Rockies. The southpaw Freeland is 4-4 with a 3.17 ERA and 49 strikeouts. He has yet to face Los Angeles this year, but he made four starts against the team in 2017, posting a 1-2 record with a 4.26 ERA and 12 strikeouts.

The Dodgers are sending righty Kenta Maeda (3-3, 3.89 ERA) to the mound. Maeda has 54 strikeouts and 13 walks to his credit, as well as a 1.30 WHIP. Maeda only made one start against the Rockies in 2017 (2-0, 4.50 ERA and eight strikeouts across eight innings).

Colorado’s pitchers have allowed 4.5 runs per game and its starters own a 4.21 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 8.21 K/9. The bullpen has logged an ERA of 4.71, along with a K-per-9 of 9.53.

Rockies hitters have slashed .230/.305/.390 on their way to 4.0 runs scored per game this season, including 4.5 runs per game against divisional foes and 4.0 per game over the team’s last five contests (2-3 SU).

Colorado’s offense has been powered by third baseman Nolan Arenado and right fielder Charlie Blackmon, who collectively have swatted 20 home runs. Arenado is hitting .323/.411/.549 with eight home runs, 26 RBIs and 25 runs scored, while Blackmon (.262/.364/.512) is up to 12 homers, 23 RBIs and 37 runs scored.

Putting up a slash line of .243/.316/.443 across 263 plate appearances, Arenado seemed to have a little trouble hitting righties on the road last year (his overall season line was .309/.373/.586).

For the home team, Los Angeles’ pitchers have yielded 4.0 runs per game overall this season. Its starting pitching staff has an ERA of 3.38, a WHIP of 1.16 and a strikeouts-per-nine of 9.7. The bullpen has a 4.21 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 9.3 K/9. In 30 games against NL West foes, Dodgers starters have an ERA of 3.43 and the bullpen’s ERA is 4.05.

The Los Angeles offense has produced 4.3 runs per outing, including 4.6 per game against divisional foes and 4.4 per game over its last five. The team’s hit .206/.294/.450 over its last five games and is 4-1 SU during that stretch.

Outfielders Matt Kemp and Chris Taylor have led the Dodgers’ offense so far. Kemp is hitting .331/.368/.517 with five home runs, 21 RBIs and 15 runs scored, while Taylor’s line is .242/.322/.432 with six homers, 18 RBIs and 32 runs.

Compared to his total season slash line of .276/.318/.463, Kemp didn’t do as well hitting against lefty pitching at home last year, slashing .256/.347/.326 over 49 such plate appearances.

The Rockies have gained 6.7 units and are 14-14 ATS when facing a righty starter this season. The over has cashed in 12 of those games, compared to 15 that’ve gone under against right-handed starting pitchers. On the other hand, the Dodgers have lost 3.5 units and are 7-9 ATS when facing a lefty starter. The over has cashed in three of those games, compared to 12 that’ve gone under.
