When the Cleveland Browns cut Connor Shaw Thursday, there was every reason for the former undrafted free agent out of South Carolina to fear for his future employment. I mean, he couldn’t make the Browns for God’s sake. Who would want him now?
It turns out at least two teams wanted Shaw, a player that has seen action in just one game, never thrown a touchdown and whose only career highlight is on another guy’s film as an interception.
For the New Orleans Saints and Chicago Bears, however, Shaw was a wanted man. And much like the battle between K.G. and Jack Black over superfan Lee’s affections, it was on.
The problem for the Saints in acquiring Shaw was they were a little too eager. In their haste to put in a waiver wire request they accidentally emailed the entire league. The Bears, seeing the Saints’ email, jumped ahead of them thanks to their win-loss record and claimed Shaw first.
Apparently sent email to every NFL team instead of just NFL personnel office…. https://t.co/64tPkaZRz3

The Bears add Shaw to their murderer’s row of crummy back ups behind Jay Cutler. Where he’ll end up competing against the likes of Brian Hoyer, Dalyn Williams and David Fales is anyone’s guess. If the Saints want to add a fourth quarterback, they’ll need to go back to the drawing board. Frankly, I don’t see why they were so eager to look at Shaw. Behind Drew Brees they have a solid back up in Luke McCown and a potential starter (or back up) of the future in Garrett Grayson.
Ravens lose Waller for four games
Darren Waller barely saw the field in 2015 with the Baltimore Ravens. Now he’s got to sit out for four games after violating the league’s substance abuse policy. It puts Waller behind the eight-ball in making the team as he played in just six games last year and caught only two passes for 18 yards.
Waller was an undrafted free agent out of Georgia Tech where he played wide receiver. At 6-foot-7 and 242 pounds, Waller was an easy player to convert to tight end, but an obvious work in progress. Now that he’ll miss the first four games of the 2016 season, that work may not be worth it for the Ravens who desperately need more offensive production out of their tight end position.
Broncos’ Keo will probably be suspended too
After playing in a whopping four games last season for the Denver Broncos, you’d think safety Shiloh Keo would have had a little perspective after the team won the Super Bowl. Instead, the former starting safety for the Houston Texans got busted for a DUI on Feb. 13.
Thursday Keo plead guilty in court, was fined $952.00 and given a year probation. He also has to speak at eight schools about the dangers of being dumb and drinking. Keo will still hear from the NFL and will likely lose at least a game. For a guy the Broncos only signed in December thanks to multiple injuries in their secondary, any type of trouble doesn’t bode well for his future with the team.
Keo, a former fifth round pick out of Idaho, started 11 games for the Texans in 2014, recording 52 tackles, one interception and six passed defended. Last year wit the Broncos he had seven tackles counting the playoffs and an interception with one pass defended.
Duron Carter is dumb
Duron Carter, the son of NFL Hall of Fame wide receiver Cris Carter, is an idiot. After failing to stick with the Indianapolis Colts last season, spending most of it on their practice squad, Carter returned to the Montreal Alouettes in the Canadian Football League, where he can actually play.
But with that play comes a big bag of douche as he put on display Thursday night against the Ottawa Redbacks. Take a look.

So, yeah. He crashes into Ottawa’s head coach Rick Campbell then celebrates up their sideline while the refs and his own teammates try to protect him and pull him away. Needless to say Carter was ejected and his team lost 28-13.
