For many around Major League Baseball, the day after Tyler Skaggs’ death was no easier than the day of. But in other ways, it was back to business as usual. Patrick Corbin gave a sweet tribute to his dear friend. The Angels won a game in his honor and vowed to do more of the same. And the rest of baseball continued mourning the sudden death of a 27-year-old that’s still unexplained. The games do go on, though. Rafael Devers carried the Red Sox to a victory with two home runs and six RBIs. Tim Beckham hit a game-winning home run and flipped his bat, as cool as you like. And Yasiel Puig became the Wild Horse once again. The game goes on, for Tyler.

Patrick Corbin wore Skaggs’ No. 45 and etched it in the dirt behind the mound, then pitched seven strong innings, nearly weeping as he left the field.

The Angels will feel their loss for the rest of the season, and maybe longer, but they took the first step toward the rest of the season Tuesday.

Rafael Devers: Two home runs, four hits, six RBIs. The kid can rake.

Tim Beckham hasn’t quite lived up to his status as a No. 1 pick, but he’s stuck around, and he still has some magic in that bat.

Vin Scully dubbed Yasiel Puig the “Wild Horse” during his time with the Dodgers. The moniker still works.
