Not long after announcing that he had trimmed his list to four schools, and eliminating the program that many thought could be leading for him, four-star power forward De’ron Davis has announced the in-home visits that he will host in his hometown of Aurora (CO).
Davis has already hosted Indiana head coach Tom Crean–many consider the Hoosiers to be his current leader–and will also host Texas, Arizona, Arkansas, Mississippi State, and UConn.
The race to sign the Colorado native was once considered to be a two-team affair, with Indiana and Colorado seeming to separate themselves from the pack. But since then, the Buffs have been cut from consideration, and the Razorbacks, Bulldogs, and Huskies added to his previous trio of options.
Buzz around the adidas All-American camp on Long Island, in July, was that UConn head coach Kevin Ollie had begun to make a serious impression on Davis, his family, and his mentors within his AAU program. Some were shocked when they were reportedly left off his list, but they could be considered a dark horse for his signature here.
Davis is a 6-foot-9 power forward who excels with his back to the basket, where he can utilize his strength and ever-expanding skill set to put the ball in the basket. He’s also known as one of the best passing big-men in the country, with the ability to step outside and knock down the mid-range jump shot. Davis’ high school, Overland, begins practice in one month in preparation of defending last season’s Colorado 5A state title.
