After another disappointing loss – a 31-24 defeat at Soldier Field – the Dallas Cowboys are sitting at 6-7 on the season.
Equally important, talk came out after the game that Urban Meyer very much remains in play. Jane Slater who covers Dallas for NFL Network tweeted the following:
Jerry Jones says Jason Garrett will remain the coach but I can confirm a very real interest in Urban Meyer. In fact, I'm told Stephen Jones spoke with him recently. Lincoln Riley remains a strong candidate & file this name as a possibility Clemson OC Tony Elliott per sources.

Here is the key snippet:

In all likelihood, it’s going to be tough for Dallas to lure in Meyer. However, he’s indicated that there would be some interest in coaching the marquee franchise. Then the rumors about Meyer to the Cowboys remained last month.
Obviously, Jason Garrett is proving he’s no longer the man for the job. If you watched the game against the Bears on Thursday Night Football, it was not a simple case of a single unit being bad. Indeed, like in several of their previous losses; the Cowboys just didn’t seem to respond to what was a prominent game on national television once again.
Now they enter the final three games needing to win the division title (they play the Eagles in Philly still), when this should have been a title they were able to back into.
Nothing has come easy for Dallas under Garrett since the beginning, and right down to the end it will be no different. At best, they will be one and done in the playoffs it seems. And at best, they will miss them altogether; leaving Jones to fire Garrett a few hours after that game ends week 17.
