Danilo Gallinari diagnosed with torn ACL in left knee

Danilo Gallinari, who was competing for Italy in a FIBA World Cup qualifying game against Georgia last month, reportedly tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee on Friday, according to the Boston Celtics. In 2013, Gallinari tore the same ligament. The forward’s comeback date was not specified by the Celtics. But given that such wounds can take up to a year to heal, it seems doubtful that the veteran will play this year.

In July, the Celtics agreed to a two-year, $13 million deal with Gallinari. Last year, he scored 11.7 points per game for Atlanta. Over 13 NBA seasons with the Hawks, New York, Denver, the Los Angeles Clippers, and Oklahoma City, the 34-year-old Gallinari has averaged 15.6 points per game.

Gallinari can be seen taking a stride after receiving a pass on a fast break in the injury video. Following his original statement, Gallinari was later given a meniscus injury diagnosis. He promised to make an effort to play basketball again as soon as feasible.
