Dennis Rodman claims to have received approval to travel to Russia in order to assist Brittney Griner

According to NBC News, former NBA player Dennis Rodman intends to fly to Russia to assist in the negotiations for the release of WNBA champion Brittney Griner. According to the U.S. authorities, Griner is still unjustly jailed despite having just received a nine-year prison term for suspected narcotics offenses earlier this month. “I will travel to Russia and aid that chick this week,” declares Rodman.

While American and Russian diplomats explore prospective prisoner swaps, her team has already filed an appeal. Rodman “received authorization” to work on the case, although it is unclear from whom or where. One of the most prominent and well-known WNBA stars and Team USA stars is “that chick,” as he refers to her.

Griner, a 6-foot-9 center, is one of just 11 women to have won a WNBA title, NCAA championship, FIBA World Cup gold medal, and Olympic gold medal. During the Phoenix Mercury’s journey to the WNBA Finals in 2021, she was a major MVP contender and a lock for the Hall of Fame.
