Dodgers News: Cody Bellinger and Team Participate in Hazing Tradition

The Los Angeles Dodgers sit one game behind the Houston Astros for the best record in baseball. All season long, the team has put in the work, even becoming the first MLB team to clinch a playoff berth early in September.

While they put in the work, and have the National League most valuable player front runner leading the way, they also know how to have fun.

In Major League Baseball, usually the finally travel day of the regular season is reserved for rookie hazing. It’s a tradition that goes back for some time. Gone are the days when veterans force rookies to dress up in “girly ensembles” and board a flight to the next city, but the tradition remains (even if tamed down).

Now, the LA Dodgers took it as an opportunity to instead get everyone involved — and we mean everyone.

Rookies, veterans, and even media and front office got involved… and it was a sight to behold.

A true highlight was Bellinger teaming up with relief pitcher Joe Kelly for a play on LeBron James’ love for “Taco Tuesday.” Rookie flamethrower Dustin May also played a spot on “Pennywise” from the reboot of Stephen King’s “IT” franchise.

For the Dodgers to expand to the entire team and travelling organization is a fun change from the usual rookie hazing we see this time of year.
