Doo Ho Choi: The Next Big Thing in the UFC

This week on the Fight Network podcast, John Ramdeen and Robin Black broke down the UFC’s Fight Pass event in Seoul, South Korea. Part of this breakdown was discussing one of the hottest rising prospects on the UFC roster, “Korean Superboy” Doo Ho Choi. While he may not have the mainstream push behind him ala Conor McGregor, Sage Northcutt, or Paige VanZant, he does have the skills to make some serious splashes in the UFC’s featherweight division.

What makes him so special? Well, first of all, his striking precision is unreal. The way he is able to read his opponent’s movement, calculate it, and then execute his own attack is what makes him very dangerous. The next thing is his unassuming personna. Looking at Doo Ho Choi you see an awkward, nerdy-looking South Korean guy with a dorky bowl cut; in reality this man is a calculated killer with a laser right hand, just ask Sam Sicilia. Doo Ho Choi is still very young, but at 2-0 in the UFC you have to wonder what lies ahead in the future for him.

One really interesting idea that Robin Black brought up was whether or not Doo Ho Choi is genetically gifted, or if he has just put thousands of hours in the gym to get this good. I wish he would have touched on this topic a little more, but here’s the bit from the Fight Network podcast on Doo Ho Choi. Definitely keep an eye on this guy!
