On Sunday night, a man assisted in rescuing children from a burning home in Philadelphia. Equally important, he was catching the young children as they were dropped out of a window of the home.
Then, he told reporters the story and took a very honest but quick jab at Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Nelson Agholor and his lack of hands. In review, here’s what the unnamed hero fan said following up his act of bravery:
“Then I saw a guy hanging out the window screaming that his kids were in there. I ran to the backdoor and ironically one of my old co-workers took the ladder off the truck. And the man was throwing babies out the window. We were catching them, unlike Agholor.”
Now, word must have gotten out to the Eagles’ fifth-year wideout. Indeed, Agholor had a response to the fan who said he was catching them unlike Agholor. However, it was of friendly nature. In fact, he’s in search of that man so he can invite him to the next Eagles’ home game.

While in a sports culture where egos are at an all-time high, and players respond with vitriol by the day on social media; Agholor took a more kind approach. He tweeted the following:
“Thank you for being a hero in the community. Would like to invite you and your family to the next home game. Twitter help me out and get me in touch with him.”
Without question – one of the better gestures I can remember recently – especially when referring to the NFL and it’s participants.
Remember, it was just weeks ago when Antonio Brown threatened to punch his general manager in the face on Instagram. By comparison, Agholor is using his social media for a good cause and possibly to have a little good-natured fun.
In closing, Agholor has been a Philadelphia Eagle quietly for parts of five seasons in which he’s carved out a solid but not stellar career. All of this after being drafted by the now departed Chip Kelly. Following this most recent act, he’s gained a fan in this guy.
