Either the Boston Bruins or the Carolina Hurricanes will claim the Prince of Wales Trophy and represent the Eastern Conference in the Stanley Cup Finals at the end of May. Carolina clinched their spot in the conference finals last Friday after sweeping the New York Islanders, while the Bruins locked in their spot last night with a victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets. The Boston Bruins are in the Eastern Conference Finals for the first time in six years after a great performance from Tuukka Rask in Game 6 last night. Rask stopped all 39 Columbus shots to notch his sixth career playoff shutout.

It’s not all good news for Boston. Charlie McAvoy is set to have a hearing with the NHL after his hit to the head of Josh Anderson last night, and it seems likely that he will be suspended for at least Game 1.
Bruins / Hurricanes Game 1 will be on Thursday at 8 p.m. at TD Garden.

We saw a thriller between the Avalanche and Sharks last night. J.T. Compher scored twice for Colorado, but the game wasn’t decided until Gabriel Landeskog netted early in overtime to keep Colorado alive in the series. Game 7 is set for Wednesday night in San Jose.

The first Western Conference finalist will be determined tonight as the Dallas Stars face the St. Louis Blues in Game 7. St. Louis will be rocking as one of the NHL’s unluckiest franchises continues its quest for its first Stanley Cup. The Blues have made the postseason in 42 of their 51 seasons, but they have yet to win it all.
