Brighton vs. Southampton
Three-Way: 1: Brighton +235; X: +229 Draw; 2: Southampton +154 at BetDSI Sportsbook
Spread 0: Brighton +134; Southampton -133
Total +2: Over -114; Under +106
BRIGHTON
The Seagulls recorded the first away win in the Premier League after a :0 thrashing of West Ham at London Stadium thanks to Glenn Murray’s brace and Jose Izquierdo’s strike. That victory put them in the 12th position with 11 points, only one behind Southampton, and three points here could get Brighton to the top half of the Premier League table.
Brighton has played 11 games so far in the 2017/18, recording four wins, two draws, and five losses, with a goal difference of 10:11, which is 1.9 goals per contest on average. The Seagulls are without a home defeat in the previous four matches, scoring six and allowing a couple in the process, so I consider them slight favorites on this one.
Pascal Gross, TomerHemed, and Glenn Murray are the team’s leading scorers with two goals apiece, while the German Gross is the most creative individual at the moment with four assists to his name. The former Ingolstadt player stepped up as the main figure at Amex Stadium, and Mauricio Pellegrino should pay special attention to him and instruct Romeu and Lemina to keep a close eye because Gross can cause damage. Chris Hughton is delighted to have almost entire team at his disposal for this tilt with only Steve Sidwell sidelined due to a back injury, and he’ll be out for another month.
SOUTHAMPTON
The Saints ended a three-game winless streak with a 1:0 victory over West Brom at St. Mary’s thanks to a late goal from substitute SofianeBoufal. Those three points sent them to the middle of the table and Southampton have a decent chance to get a positive result here, but I wouldn’t describe them as favorites in this encounter. Southampton is playing unattractive and slow football, and some of the key players are underperforming so I wouldn’t bet on them.
Southampton played ten games in this campaign, recording three wins, three draws, and four losses, with a goal difference of 8:11, which is 1.9 goals per contest on average. That is an identical amount of goals per match as Brighton’s, so I suppose we will probably not witness a high-scoring Premier League affair. The Saints scored two and allowed two in three games away from St. Mary’s, but they kept their net intact in a couple.
The Italian striker ManoloGabbiadini is the team’s top scorer with three goals to his name, but Pellegrino needs Shane Long, Charlie Austin, Dusan Tadic, and Nathan Redmond to step up and help the former Napoli forward in the attacking third. None of these players failed to impress thus far, but the gaffer still has faith in them and will continue to deploy them in the starting eleven. The Argentinean manager doesn’t have any injury-related issues as all of his players are healthy and raring to go.
Brighton vs. Southampton – Match Prediction
I honestly don’t like the playing style of these teams, and I would be surprised if they manage to combine for more than two goals, so I am going with under on this one.
MY PICK: Under 2 goals (+106)
Leicester City vs. Everton
Three-Way: 1: Leicester +125; X: +250 Draw; 2: Everton +278
Spread -0.5: Leicester +119; Everton -120
Total +2.5: Over +102; Under -108
LEICESTER CITY
The Foxes are looking rejuvenated after they sacked Craig Shakespeare, and the similar thing happened to them when they fired Claudio Ranieri. Suddenly, Leicester is playing better, and they won two Premier League matches in a row sine Shakespeare left, as the caretaker Michael Appleton got a role to guide the team indefinitely. Leicester first collected three points at Liberty Stadium against Swansea thanks to own goal from Federico Fernandez and a strike from Shinji Okazaki, and then defeated Leeds in the 1/8 finals of the Carabao Cup. Kelechi Iheanacho finally scored his first goal for the club as he initiated Leicester’s comeback, who were down to a goal at the moment. Islam Sliman and Riyad Mahrez completed the turnaround and launched their team to the 1/4 finals so the Foxes will welcome Everton in a good mood.
Leicester City played 12 games in this season, recording five victories, three draws, and four losses, with a goal difference of 21:16, which is a bit over three goals per contest on average. The Foxes scored in each of the previous six home matches, but they failed to score in the last H2H duel with Everton at King Power Stadium as the Toffees won by two goals to nil.
Jamie Vardy and Shinji Okazaki are the team’s leading scorers with five goals to their respective names, while Islam Slimani is right behind them with four goals in nine appearances. The Algerian international Mahrez is the most creative individual with four assists at the moment, while midfielders Vicente Iborra and Andy King added a couple of dishes as well. Michael Appleton cannot count on the centre-back Robert Huth who has yet to play a single minute this term, and he’s still out with a malleolar injury. The midfielder Matty James has an issue with Achilles tendon, and he’s getting close to returning t the pitch, so we could expect him back in the next week or so.
EVERTON
The Toffees also went through the changes as they fired Ronald Koeman and appointed a former defender David Unsworth as a caretaker until the suitable manager arrives at Goodison Park. Koeman had to go after a 2:5 home defeat to Arsenal, and the Dutchman did nothing from the start of the Premier League season to convince the owner to keep him at the club. Unsworth wasn’t lucky to record a win it the first game in charge like Appleton, as Everton fell short at Stamford Bridge in the Carabao Cup, losing 1:2 to Chelsea. The Blues got to a 2:-0 lead through Rudiger and Willian, while Dominic Calvert-Lewin scored in the 94th minute, but even with a defeat, Everton showed a desire and displayed a solid performance.
Everton played 18 games in the 2017/18 season so far, recording six wins, four draws, and eight losses, with a goal difference of 19:28, which is just over 2.6 goals per contest on average. The Toffees are without an away victory in the league as they collected only two points in four outings, but they scored in four out of the last five at King Power Stadium.
Wayne Rooney is the team’s top scorer with five goals in 16 appearances, while Dominic Calvert-Lewin and OumarNiasse are following him on the goal-scoring chart with four goals each. Calvert-Lewin is the best assist-maker with three dishes to his name, while Tom Davies and Gylfi Sigurdsson added a couple of assists as well. David Unsworth is without Ross Barkley (hamstring), YannickBolasie (cruciate ligament rupture), Seamus Coleman (fractured leg), and Ramiro Funes Mori (knee) who will not feature on this one, but Gareth Barry is recovering from a back injury and could be on the bench. Idrissa Gueye will have to serve a one-game suspension after receiving two yellow cards against Arsenal.
Leicester City vs. Everton – Match Prediction
Both teams have new coaches, and the players will be eager to prove themselves, so I believe we will see goals on both ends here.
MY PICK: Both teams to score YES (-120)
