TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR
Spurs secured their place in the knockout phase of the Champions League after a magnificent 3:1 victory over the reigning champs Real Madrid at Wembley, so now they can focus on the Premier League and the match with Crystal Palace. Tottenham ended a two-game losing streak with a win over the Galacticos, thanks to Dele Alli’s brace and Christian Eriksen, and three points against APOEL at home will guarantee them the first place in the group. Spurs are big favorites to beat the Eagles on Sunday as they are looking to close the gap between them and Man City who are eight points clear at the top of the Premier League.
Tottenham played 16 games so far in the 2017/18, recording ten victories, three draws, and three losses, with a goal difference of 32:13, which is 2.81 goals per contest on average. When it comes to matches at home, Spurs won four out of the last five at Wembley, scoring in each, but conceding in the previous three. Tottenham allowed just one goal in the past five meetings with Crystal Palace at home, so the visitors will have a mountain to climb to get on the scoreboard on Sunday.
Harry Kane is the team’s top scorer with 13 goals in 13 appearances, and although he wasn’t on the score-sheet against Real Madrid, his presence on the pitch affected the outcome of the game. That Spurs lacked at Old Trafford in a 0:1 defeat to Manchester United, when Kane was sidelined due to a minor injury. Dele Alli is another key contributor as he added even goals to his name, while Christian Eriksen has four goals at the moment. Kieran Tripper recorded another fantastic assist and now has seven, while the Danish playmaker Eriksen created goals on four occasions. Mauricio Pochettino is still without Erik Lamela who is recovering from a hip injury, while Victor Wanyama is near to returning to the pitch. Toby Alderweireld sustained a hamstring injury in the first-half in a tilt with Real and will miss the next few weeks, so the gaffer will likely revert to four at the back.
CRYSTAL PALACE
The Eagles are still at the bottom of the Premier League with four points in ten matches, but at least they started to show some signs of life following a dramatic comeback against West Ham at home when Palace saved a point despite being two goals down. Luka Milivojevic scored from a penalty spot, but Wilfried Zaha was a savior again, as he scored the 97th-minute equalizer. They are the huge underdogs on this one and have basically nothing to lose, so even a draw would be quite an achievement for Roy Hodgson’s side.
Crystal Palace played 13 games so far in this campaign, recording three victories, a draw, and nine losses, with a goal difference of 8:26, which is 2.61 goals per contest on average. When it comes to away matches, the Eagles are disastrous as they suffered all six defeats, scoring just one goal and allowing 16 in return. Palace has only one win at Tottenham in the last seven meetings, and they scored mere two goals in those clashes.
Wilfried Zaha, James McCarthur, and BakarySako are the team’s leading scorers with two goals apiece, while Andros Townsend and Ruben Loftus-Cheek are the most creative individuals with a couple of assists to their respective names. The Eagles are the most inefficient team in the Premier League, and it’s a big problem for Hodgson. The former England manager is without Connor Wickham (cruciate ligament rupture) and Christian Benteke (knee), while Patrick van Aanholt and Chung-Yong Lee are doubtful for this tilt.
Tottenham Hotspur vs. Crystal Palace – Match Prediction
Spurs will be without reliable defender Alderweireld, but I don’t think that will help the visitors to score here, so I am expecting the Spurs to win without conceding.
MY PICK: Both teams to score NO (+102)
Manchester City vs. Arsenal
Three-Way: 1: Man City -182; X: +429 Draw; 2: Arsenal +680 at BetDSI Sportsbook
Spread -1: Man City -139; Arsenal +143
Total +3.5: Over +104; Under -104
MANCHESTER CITY
The Citizens booked their place in the knockout stage of the Champions League with a convincing 4-2 victory at Napoli, as they are now first in the group with maximum 12 points from four matches, and they need just a point to secure a top spot. Nicolas Otamendi, John Stones, Sergio Aguero, and Raheem Sterling scored goals, and how the things are going at the moment, Man City is looking unstoppable. They are at the top of the Premier League with record-breaking 28 points from the opening ten games and are huge favorites to beat the Gunners on Sunday.
Manchester City played 16 games in this season, recording 15 victories and a draw, with a goal difference of 50:10, which is 3.75 goals per contest on average. The Citizens won the previous seven at Etihad, conceding just three and scoring 25 in return, while they are without a loss in the last two against Arsenal at home, scoring a couple in each.
Raheem Sterling is the team’s top scorer with ten goals in 14 appearances, while Sergio Aguero with nine, and Gabriel Jesus and Leroy Sane with eight are following Sterling on a goal-scoring chart. The Belgian international Kevin De Bruyne is the most creative with nine assists to his name, while David Silva and Sane are right behind him with eight and seven, respectively. Pep Guardiola cannot count on the captain Vincent Kompany (calf) and Benjamin Mendy (cruciate ligament), but the rest of the team is healthy and eager to record another win over the Premier League title contenders.
ARSENAL
The Gunners are in a good run of five matches without a defeat, but they failed to beat CrvenaZvezda in the Europa League in the mid-week as the tilt ended 0:0, the first time in nine games that Arsenal didn’t score. Arsenal is at the top of the group with ten points, five more than the Serbian team, and a point in the next round will secure them a spot in the knockout phase. Arsene Wenger’s side won two in a row in the Premier League, and they are in the 5th position with 19 points, nine behind the Citizens, and now they have an opportunity to close the gap with a potential win at Etihad.
Arsenal played 17 games in the 2017/18 so far, recording 12 victories, two draws, and three losses, with a goal difference of 32:18, which is 2.95 goals per contest on average. When it comes to matches away from Emirates, the Gunners won the previous two and scored in the last four. The last time Arsenal failed to score at Man City was in 2011, so the visitors have a chance to find the back of the net on this one.
Alexandre Lacazette is the team’s leading scorer with five goals in 11 appearances, while Theo Walcott, Olivier Giroud, Sead Kolasinac, Aaron Ramsey, and Danny Welbeck added three apiece. Granit Xhaka is the best assist-maker with four dishes to his name, while Kolasinac, Ramsay, and Alexis Sanchez contributed with three dishes each. Wenger rested his key players against CrvenaZvezda, while Guardiola used his best XI against Napoli, so this could be Arsenal’s chance to get a positive result. Wenger is without Santi Cazorla (plantar fascia), Danny Welbeck (groin), and ShkodranMustafi (hamstring), while Kolasinac and Calum Chambers are doubtful with muscle and hip injury, respectively.
Manchester City vs. Arsenal – Match Prediction
Arsenal will likely score on this one, but I am certain the hosts will find a net on at least two or three occasions, so I anticipate a bunch of goals here.
MY TIP: Over 3.5 goals (+104)
