LIVERPOOL
The Reds are looking to extend the current three-game winning run to four after big victories over Huddersfield, Maribor, and West Ham. Liverpool defeated the Hammers at London Stadium 4:1, thanks to a brace from Mohamed Salah, Joel Matip, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, while Sadio Mane returned to the starting lineup and added two assists in 77 minutes of action. Liverpool is in the fifth position with 19 points, 12 fewer than the Premier League leaders Manchester City, and Jurgen Klopp’s side is a huge favorite to get three points against the Saints.
Liverpool played 18 games so far in the 2017/18, recording nine victories, six draws, and three losses, with a goal difference of 40:25, which is 3.61 goals per contest on average. The Reds have been unbeaten at Anfield this season winning the previous two with six goals scored in the process, and without allowing a goal in the last three. However, Liverpool scored just one goal over the last three H2H meetings at home and failed to win in those encounters, but considering Southampton’s form at the moment, the visitors will have a mountain to climb to avoid a loss on Saturday.
Mohamed Salah has been in a fantastic form since he joined from Roma, scoring 12 goals in 17 appearances, and is the team’s top scorer, while Roberto Firmino is following him with seven goals to his name. Philippe Coutinho with four, and Emre Can, Sadio Mane, and Daniel Sturridge with three goals apiece are also significant contributors to the attack. James Milner, Firmino, Salah, and Mane are the most creative individuals with four assists each, while Alberto Moreno and Coutinho added three so far. Jurgen Klopp will be without a captain Jordan Henderson (thigh), and Nathaniel Clyne (back), but Adam Lallana could be included in a squad and could play his first game of the season. Sadio Mane sustained a slight hamstring injury while on international duty with Senegal, but he should be ready to face Southampton.
SOUTHAMPTON
The Saints recorded only one win in the last six matches, and are not playing well at the moment, scoring miserable two goals in the previous three outings. Southampton is in the 13th position with 13 points, four ahead of the relegation zone, and Mauricio Pellegrino is under a lot of heat at the moment, so if they continue to display uninspiring performances, the coach will be looking for a new job pretty soon.
Southampton played 12 games in this campaign, recording three victories, four draws, and five losses, with a goal difference of 9:13, which is 1.83 goals per contest on average. The Saints are without an away win in the previous two matches in the Premier League, but they didn’t suffer a defeat to Liverpool at Anfield in the previous three duels.
Manolo Gabbiadini is the team’s leading scorer with three goals in 12 appearances, while Steven Davis is following him on a goal-scoring chart with a pair of goals to his name. Nathan Redmond and Shane Long are the best assist-makers with two dishes apiece, but the efficiency is a huge problem for Southampton, and even though their defense is looking good, the offense must improve. Mauricio Pellegrino cannot count on the centre-back Wesley Hoedt, while midfielder Mario Lemina is doubtful with a malleolar injury.
Liverpool vs. Southampton – Match Prediction
Although Liverpool didn’t win in the previous three H2H encounters at Anfield, they are playing very well at the moment, so I am backing the hosts to get the three points here.
MY PICK: Liverpool to win Half Time/Full Time (+114)
West Bromwich Albion vs. Chelsea
Three-Way: 1: West Brom +560; X: +309 Draw; 2: Chelsea -143 at BetDSI Sportsbook
Spread +1: West Brom -116; Chelsea +114
Total +2.5: Over +112; Under -116
WEST BROMWICH ALBION
The Baggies are in a disastrous form of last ten matches without a win and are in a three-game losing streak in the Premier League. West Brom is in the 16th position with ten points, only one ahead of the relegation zone, and the recent 0:1 defeat to Huddersfield put more pressure on Tony Pulis who must improve results or will be sacked. Chelsea is not coming to The Hawthorns in the best moment for the hosts, so West Brom will have a lot to do to avoid a defeat on this one.
West Bromwich Albion played 13 games in this season, recording three victories, four draws, and six losses, with a goal difference of 13:17, which is 2.30 goals per contest on average. Although they scored two in each of a previous couple of home matches, the Baggies failed to win, and they lost the last two H2H duels with the Blues at The Hawthorns, so getting a positive result here will be a success.
Jay Rodriguez is the team’s top scorer with three goals in 13 appearances, while Matt Phillips and Salomon Rondon added two goals to their respective names. The efficiency is Pulis’ main problem as he doesn’t have a consistent player who will provide goals on a regular basis. Tony Pulis is definitely without a defender Craig Dawson (knee) for this tilt, while James Morrison is doubtful as he’s recovering from an Achilles tendon injury.
CHELSEA
The Blues responded well after a massive 0:3 defeat to Roma in the Champions League with a 1:0 home win over Manchester United in the Premier League, and now they are in the fourth position with 22 points, nine behind the leaders Man City. Chelsea is in the run of three consecutive wins in the league, keeping the net intact in the last two, so the visitors are favorites to take three points on Saturday. Alvaro Morata scored the winning goal against the Red Devils, which was his first in the previous eight appearances, but quite significant for his team.
Chelsea played 18 games in the 2017/18 so far, recording 11 victories, two draws, and five losses, with a goal difference of 38:21, which is close to 3.30 goals per contest on average. The Blues suffered a couple of defeats in the last three away matches, including the one to Crystal Palace in the Premier League, but won the previous two meeting with the Baggies in Birmingham.
Alvaro Morata is the team’s leading scorer with eight goals in 15 appearances, while MichyBatshuayi is right behind him with seven goals to his name. Eden Hazard and Pedro contributed with three goals apiece, while Cesar Azpilicueta is the most creative individual with five assists so far; Cesc Fabregas and Hazard recorded four respectively. Antonio Conte is delighted to have almost all of the players at his disposal as only Victor Moses is struggling with a hamstring injury and is listed as doubtful for this tilt.
West Bromwich Albion vs. Chelsea – Match Prediction
The hosts are desperate to avoid a defeat here, but Chelsea must keep up with Manchester City, and only a win would satisfy them, so I am backing the visitors to collect three points on Saturday.
MY PICK: Chelsea to win -143
