Watford vs. Manchester United
Three-Way: 1: Watford +480; X: +309 Draw; 2: Man United -132 at BetDSI Sportsbook
Spread +1: Watford -130; Man United +127
Total +2.5: Over -108; Under +106
WATFORD
After suffering three consecutive defeats in the Premier League, the Hornets responded with a pair of wins in a row, without conceding a single goal in the process. Watford got three points at St James’ Park on Saturday as they beat Newcastle 3:0, thanks to the goals from Will Hughes and Andre Gray, while DeAndre Yedlin scored an own goal. Marco Silva’s side is currently in the 8th position in the Premier League with 21 points, eight behind Man United, and if they continue to perform like this, the European football in the next season is looking likely.
Watford played 14 games so far in the 2017/18, recording six victories, three draws, and five losses, with a goal difference of 24:24, which is 3.42 goals per contest on average. The Hornets failed to score in three out of the last five home matches, but they scored in the previous four against the Red Devils at Vicarage Road. Watford won 3:1 when the two sides met the last season, and considering United’s away form of late; I wouldn’t be surprised if Marco Silva’s team secure a positive result here.
The Brazilian winger Richarlison is the team’s top scorer with five goals in 14 appearances, while Abdoulaye Doucoure is following him on a goal-scoring chart with four goals to his name. Richarlison is the best assist-maker with four dishes at the moment, while Andre Gray and Jose Holebas recorded three assists apiece. Will Huges emerged as a key player in the past few games, and he scored a pair of goals and added a couple of assists in just five appearances, so the former Derby midfielder is a man to watch on this one. Marco Silva cannot count on Isaac Success (knee), Nathaniel Chalobah (knee), Craig Cathcart (knee), Younes Kaboul (thigh), and Tommie Hoban (cruciate ligament), while the captain Troy Deeney served his three-match suspension and is available to feature here.
MANCHESTER UNITED
The Red Devils responded with a 1:0 win over Brighton following a defeat to Basel in the Champions League, and they are 2nd in the Premier League with 29 points, eight behind Manchester City. Manchester United had troubles to penetrate through the sturdy Brighton’s defense from most of the match, but they won thanks to Lewis Dunk’s own goal in the 66th minute. Jose Mourinho’s side is favorite on this one, but Watford will show even more resistance than the Seagulls, and I don’t think United will win easily.
Manchester United played 21 games in this campaign, recording 15 victories, two draws, and four losses, with a goal difference of 45:11, which is 2.66 goals per contest on average. The Red Devils are not playing very well on the road recently as they suffered three defeats in the previous five matches, failing to find the net in the last two at Chelsea and Basel, so United have a lot to do to get three points at Vicarage Road.
Romelu Lukaku is the team’s leading scorer with 12 goals in 20 appearances, while Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford contributed with seven goals apiece. Rashford is the most creative individual with seven assists to his name, while Martial and Henrikh Mkhitaryan recorded six dishes each. Jose Mourinho will be without Phil Jones (hamstring) and Michael Carrick (calf), while Eric Bailly (knock) is listed as doubtful and could be back for this clash.
Watford vs. Manchester United – Match Prediction
The Hornets are playing well at the moment and are scoring goals on a regular basis, so I think they will score at least one past David de Gea, while United should break the scoring spell and find the net as well.
MY PICK: Both teams to score YES (-110)
West Bromwich Albion vs. Newcastle United
Three-Way: 1: West Brom +150; X: +229 Draw; 2: Newcastle +250 at BetDSI Sportsbook
Spread -0.5: West Brom +146; Newcastle -149
Total +2: Over -109; Under +112
WEST BROMWICH ALBION
The Baggies snapped the four-match losing streak with a crucial point against Tottenham at Wembley as they fought for a 1:1 draw, and are now in the 17th position in the Premier League with 11 points, three fewer than Newcastle. West Brom sacked Tony Pulis last week and his assistant Gary Megson took charge at the Hawthorns, and immediately produced a positive result thanks to Solomon Rondon’s early opening goal in the 4th minute. Spurs managed just to equalize through Harry Kane but were unable to complete a comeback.
West Bromwich Albion played 15 games in this season, recording three victories, five draws, and seven losses, with a goal difference of 14:22, which is 2.40 goals per contest on average. The Baggies are without a home win in the previous six matches, and they didn’t win in the last 12, so they are desperate to finally end that negative run with three points against the struggling Magpies.
Solomon Rondon and Jay Rodriguez are the team’s top scorers with three goals apiece, while Mark Phillips added a couple of goals to his name. Phillips also recorded a pair of assists and is a man to watch alongside Rondon and Rodriguez. Gary Megson cannot count on the defender Craig Dawson (knee), Nacer Chadli (muscle), and James Morrison (Achilles tendon), who are all sidelined all will not be back until January.
NEWCASTLE UNITED
The Magpies are in a horrible form of four straight defeats in which they scored only one goal and allowed nine in return. Newcastle is in the 14th position in the Premier League with 14 points, and a potential loss here would send them down close to the relegation zone. Rafa Benitez’s side suffered a 0:3 home defeat to Watford on Saturday, and although they weren’t that bad, they couldn’t find the net, and inefficiency is a major problem for the Spanish tactician.
Newcastle United played 14 games in the 2017/18 so far, recording four victories, two draws, and eight losses, with a goal difference of 13:20, which is 2.35 goals per contest on average. The Magpies have only one win on the road in this campaign, and they didn’t score at the Hawthorns in 2016/17 as the hosts won 1:0.
Joselu, Jamaal Lascelles, and Aleksandar Mitrovic are the team’s leading scorers with two goals each, while Matt Ritchie is the most creative individual at St. James’ Park with four assists to his name. Mitrovic is a fan favorite, and they would like to see the Serbian more on the pitch, and Benitez at least started to hand him some minutes off the bench in the past two games. Rafa Benitez is without the winger Christian Atsu (thigh), left-back Paul Dummett (hamstring), midfielder Mikel Merino (back), and captain Lascelles who is out with a malleolar injury.
West Bromwich Albion vs. Newcastle United – Match Prediction
The Baggies are in a slightly better position to win this match, and I think they will not lose, so I am going to take a risk here and predict the home team to win all three points.
MY PICK: West Brom to win (+150)
