The Premier League season continues with seven games on the schedule for this Saturday. While there will be plenty of options to choose from when it comes to building the perfect fantasy lineup, we will focus on the best matchups for the bulk of our roster. There is no doubt we want as much star power as possible, but we will also need to find some strong value picks to stay under the salary cap. Here is a look at the optimal lineup for this Saturday’s DraftKings EPL Fantasy Leagues.
G: Asmir Begovic, Chelsea
Salary: $5,800
Injuries have not slowed down Chelsea even a little bit as they have continued their push for a Premier League title. The Blues should be in a favorable position to pick up another three points this week versus Crystal Palace. Thibault Courtois is dealing with a hip injury, so lock in Begovic as Chelsea’s starting goalkeeper.
Chelsea has been one of the best teams to look at in terms of EPL fantasy. They have allowed just 21 goals this season, which is tied for the best number in the Premier League.
D: Gary Cahill, Chelsea
Salary: $3,500
Crystal Palace has won three in a row to climb above the relegation line, but that doesn’t mean they will continue their run against a title contender in Chelsea. Instead, expect the Blues to shut down the CP attack with Cahill and company benefiting from a clean sheet bonus this weekend.
D: Eric Bailly, Manchester United
Salary: $3,500
Manchester United is still chasing a top four spot in the table. They have found ways to pick up points but can’t continue to settle for draws. United needs to take advantage of a favorable matchup versus West Brom this weekend. At just $3.5K, Bailly is another strong value pick at the defender position. Manchester United has been one of the better teams to rely on for defense in terms of EPL fantsy. So far this season, they have allowed just 23 goals, which is the second-best number in the Premier League.
M: Willian, Chelsea
Salary: $8,300
The Blues will need another dominant performance from Willian this week against CP. With so many injuries capping their offensive potential, Willian will need to step up as Chelsea’s best midfielder. At under $9K, Willian is definitely worth the investment.
M: Jesse Lingard, Manchester United
Salary: $5,200
Lingard has stepped up with some consistent production for United recently. At $5.2K, he is a strong value pick for this week’s DraftKings competitions. United enters the week in fifth place in the EPL standings. They are four points out of fourth place and five points back of third.
F: Pedro, Chelsea
Salary: $8,400
Diego Costa will likely miss Saturday’s match, which leaves Pedro as the top striker for Chelsea. The Blues have been pleased with what they have seen from the young scorer so far. Pedro isn’t the most expensive option on the board but he probably could be in this week’s EPL fantasy competitions.
F: Anthony Martial, Manchester United
Salary: $7,700
With Zlatan Ibrahimovic also banged up, Martial makes sense as the perfect pick for our second striker spot. United is still capable of scoring goals in bunches and a favorable matchup should help Martial in the lead role up front this week.
FLEX: Riyad Mahrez, Leicester City
Salary: $7,200
After some smart plays at the defender and forward positions, we have over $7K to address our final FLEX position. Mahrez might be the perfect fit as an underrated play based on his lack of production to this point in the season. Mahrez is definitely capable of a strong performance versus Stoke this weekend so lock him in as a smart play in the FLEX position. Leicester City has had a rough season by many standards and they haven’t been a team that pops up on our EPL fantasy list very often. After winning the Premier League last season, they enter the week in 15th place with 30 points. They are only six points clear of relegation.
