With the opening games of the tournament in the books for every team at Euro 2016, we now have some actual game play to base our decisions on for the following round of games. The action continues on Wednesday with tournament host France a massive favorite for its clash with Albania while Switzerland takes on Romania and Russia clashes with Slovakia. We broke down the numbers to build the best combination of star players and strong value plays in order to create the perfect lineup for Euro fantasy tournaments. Here is a look at the optimal lineup for Wednesday’s DraftKings Euro fantasy leagues.
GK: Hugo Lloris, France
Salary: $5,500
France will be a substantial favorite with a chance to solidify its position atop Group A with a win over Albania on Wednesday and unlike their opener we don’t expect them to concede. The players have gotten over the nerves of playing at home and they will have a very good shot at shutting down the Albania attack with Lloris the best bet on the board at the goalkeeper position for Wednesday’s contests.
D: Adil Rami, France
Salary: $3,800
Rami played the full 90 minutes against Belgium and should be in line to play the entire match again when France clashes with Albania. He isn’t the most expensive option on the board but he was a key contributor in the opener and that should make him a strong value play for Wednesday’s competitions.
D: Vasili Berezutski, Russia
Salary: $3,500
Russia managed to earn a draw with England thanks to a late equalizing goal from Berezutski, who delivered the tying marker in the second minute of injury time to help them earn a key point. Russia will look to build on that performance with a key clash against Slovakia that could hold the key to whether or not they advance and we like Berezutski to deliver another strong performance as a strong value option in Euro fantasy.
M: Dimitri Payet, France
Salary: $10,300
Payet proved that the hype surrounding him heading in to the tournament was reasonable with an outstanding performance versus Belgium in the opener. Payet was all over the field and looked particularly lethal attacking the Belgium goal, including a late goal in the 89th minute that stood as the game-winner. Payet will feature again as an attacking midfielder for France and he should have no problem finding the scoresheet in a favorable Euro fantasy matchup versus Albania.
M: Gelson Fernandes, Switzerland
Salary: $4,100
Fernandes was featured in an attacking role for the Swiss in their opener against Albania and his price point makes him the perfect fit to slide in to our lineup at the midfield position. Fernandes was held without a shot on target in the opener but we expect the Swiss to be a little more aggressive against Romania in their second game and that should translate to a strong Euro fantasy performance.
F: Olivier Giroud, France
Salary: $10,200
Giroud joined Payet as France’s two most dangerous looking attacking players in France’s opener including the opening goal of the tournament for the host nation. Giroud will have every opportunity to add to his strong start versus Albania and he is definitely worth spending big on as the top striker option on the board in Euro fantasy for Wednesday.
F: Anthony Martial, France
Salary: $8,000
There wasn’t much debate about using Martial as our second forward option for Wednesday as he compliments Giroud in the starting lineup for France and completes a formidable trio that includes Payet. Albania will be in tough to slow down the French side and it wouldn’t surprise us if Martial joined Giroud and Payet with strong performances in Euro fantasy.
Util: Fabian Schar, Switzerland
Salary: $3,800
Schar delivered the lone goal for the Swiss in their 1-0 win over Albania and his penchant for moving forward and joining the attack makes him an intriguing option for our FLEX position. With $4.6K left over to spend on this spot we can clearly afford to look elsewhere but Schar offers enough intrigue that we are willing to take a chance on him in Euro fantasy for both his defensive play and the potential to contribute on offense versus Belgium on Wednesday.
