FGCU Eagles vs. Liberty Flames Betting Prediction
The last time the Eagles played, they topped the North Alabama Lions, 71-64. The Eagles held the Lions to an effective field goal percentage of 0.444 (below the 0.533 mark opponents have averaged against FGCU this season) and had a turnover percentage of 17.2 (better than their season average of 19.3). FGCU received a boost from Zach Scott, who was the team’s high scorer with 17 points on 6-for-8 shooting.
The Flames edged the Stetson Hatters in their last contest, 57-54. Liberty’s turnover percentage was their largest strength over Stetson. The Flames had a rate of 12.7 (better than their season average of 15.4), while the Hatters posted a mark of 20.9 (above their season average of 15.7). With 16 points and six rebounds, Caleb Homesley played well for Liberty.
This will be the second game of the season between these two squads. In the first, Darius McGhee scored a game-high 18 points and the Flames topped the Eagles 81-63. The Flames had a much better turnover percentage (14.9 vs. 20.7) and had a much better effective field goal percentage (0.704 vs. 0.554).
The sweet-shooting offense of Liberty will battle against the porous defense of FGCU. The Flames rank seventh in effective field goal percentage (0.575), while the Eagles are 298th in effective field goal percentage allowed (0.530). The Flames should have the edge on that side of the ball. It could also be a sloppy game for the Eagles’ offense, which ranks 313th in ball protection (turnover percentage of 21.5 percent). They’ll be going up against the stingy defense of the Flames, which forces the 59th-most turnovers in the country (21.6 percent).
