Following his transfer from USC, Bru McCoy is given the all-clear by the NCAA

The Tennessee offense, which is expected to be among the most explosive in the nation, received encouraging news regarding its eligibility on Friday. Following a waiver request that put his season in jeopardy, Bru McCoy, a redshirt junior wide receiver who transferred to the team from USC in the spring, has been deemed instantly eligible by the NCAA.

McCoy required USC to approve a No Participation Opportunity Form in order to play for the Volunteers in 2022 after transferring from USC to Texas and returning to Los Angeles in 2019. When McCoy was detained in July 2021 on suspicion of felony intimate partner assault, a Title IX inquiry resulted in a full-season suspension as well as a ban from school. As a result of inadequate evidence, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office ultimately dismissed the charges and concluded the Title IX investigation. A five-star talent in the 2019 class, McCoy.
