UTEP head coach Dana Dimel has arguably the toughest job in college football, and that job has gotten significantly tougher the last two weeks. Starting quarterback Kai Locksley was arrested on a litany of charges two weeks ago, putting his status for this season in doubt. Now, a running back that he had hoped would carry the load this season has decided to move on to Georgia Southern.
Former Americas RB Josh Fields was one of the most best players I've ever seen play on the high school level in my 20-plus years of covering high school sports. Looking forward to seeing him get a chance at Georgia Southern.

Josh Fields was expected to have a much bigger role in UTEP’s offense this year. Fields made a splash as a freshman in 2017, but he couldn’t get anything going in 2018 and entered the transfer portal in April. Dimel had been holding out hope that Fields would return to the fold, but he decided to transfer to Georgia Southern where he is hoping to become eligible immediately. Georgia Southern is a running back’s dream because of its dedication to the triple option, so he will rack up big numbers if he cracks the rotation.
Michigan State will always hold a special place in my heart, but today a childhood dream of mine came true. I officially signed with the Pittsburgh Pirates to begin my professional baseball career. Couldn’t think of a better first job. Go Bucs🖤💛 pic.twitter.com/5l67C0f31c

Jase Bowen was set to be one of Michigan State’s newest wide receivers this fall, but Bowen has instead decided to play baseball. The prospect was drafted in the 11th round by the Pittsburgh Pirates earlier this month, and he signed a professional contract with the Pirates yesterday.

UCF and Boise State have been the Group of Five darlings in recent seasons, and others are looking to take the baton from them in 2019. UCF leads the list of G5 schools that could crack the top ten this season, but a surprising omission is Memphis. Memphis has a lot of talent returning and the Tigers can light up the scoreboard.
