Boxing Odds: Brandon Adams Faces John Thompson On Friday

This Friday’s edition of “Friday Night Fights” features the Boxcino 2015 tournament finals, with Brandon Adams (17-1)  facing John Thompson (16-1) in the super welterweight tourney, while Andrey Fedosov (27-3) takes on Donovan Dennis (12-1).

Adams is a familiar face to fans who have followed promoter Art Pellulo’s Boxcino tournaments the last two years.  Last year, he entered the middleweight tourney as an undefeated prospect and advanced to the finals before taking his first loss to Willie Monroe Jr in the finals.  Monroe went on to give a good account of himself in his recent fight against world  middleweight No. 1 Gennady Golovkin.

Adams has tightened up his game, dropping a weight class and getting two stoppages in the first two fights this year.  Thompson is also once beaten, but he has not been as impressive in the first two rounds of the tourney fought this past February and April.

In the heavyweight finals, Fedosov enjoys a wide advantage in experience, as Dennis brings a reputation as a big puncher with ten stoppages in 13 fights.  His lone loss came by TKO to Nat Heaven, so he is going to want to avoid getting hit by Fedosov, who has 22 stoppages in his 27 wins.  Fedesov’s last loss came at the hands of Bryant Jennings, when he was stopped in the sixth round on a cut.  Both Fedosov and Dennis fight in the mid 220 lb range, meaning they are not massive, plodding heavyweights.
