Here we have prepared for you the three-match analysis of the German Bundesliga week 6 duels that will take place in Mainz, Sinsheim, and Leipzig between home teams and their opponents from Berlin, Gelsenkirchen and Frankfurt on Saturday.
There are six duels in German Bundesliga on the menu for Saturday and here we will check out three of those in this article. The first matchup features 1. FSV Mainz 05 who is coming off from a home loss against TSG Hoffenheim 1899 (2:3), and Hertha BSC team that managed to emerge victorious on Wednesday against Bayer Leverkusen (2:1), also at home. The second clash features aforementioned TSG Hoffenheim and Schalke 04 team who is coming off from a bitter home loss against Bayern Munich (0:3).
Final matchup is the one that will take place at Red Bull Arena in Leipzig between home team that suffered an unexpected in round 5 on the road against FC Augsburg (0:1) and one of the most unpredictable squads this season, Eintracht Frankfurt who is coming from a 1:0 road win at Koln.
FSV Mainz 05 vs. Hertha BSC
Three-Way: 1: 1. FSV Mainz 05 +150; X: +245 Draw; Hertha BSC +265
Spread -0.5: 1. FSV Mainz 05 +131; Hertha BSC -135
Total +2.5: Over +129; Under -128
FSV MAINZ 05
The 1. FSV Mainz team suffered yet another defeat during midweek, this time at their home venue Opel Arena against guests from Sinsheim. The final result was 2:3 for the visitors, even though home team had 2:0 advantage after only 16 minutes of play. Danny Latza and Yoshimori Muto were goal scorers for the home team but three goals by Nadiem Amiri, Sandro Wagner and Mark Uth sent the home team’ fans into despair and secured another full-pray on the road for the Blues.
The team currently ranks at No. 15 spot in the Bundesliga table, just above the relegation line with three points earned and 1-0-4 record. Their goal difference so far is 5-10 (5-5 at home).
Karim Onisiwo’s (rib) status is unknown while Niko Bungert (thigh), Aaron Seydel (knee) and Marin Sverko (muscle) are day to day. Abdou Diallo (back), Kenan Kodro (ankle) and Philipp Klement (thigh) are listed as doubtful while Emil Berggreen (muscle), Jannik Huth (knee), Alexander Hack (ankle) and Gaetan Bussman (groin) are back in training.
HERTHA BSC
“The Old Lady” (nickname for Hertha BSC team) has continued its undefeated streak to three consecutive games, this time with a home win over Bayer Leverkusen on Wednesday. The final result was 2:1 with one goal each by Leckie and Kalou in the first half. They currently rank at No. 8 spot in the Bundesliga table with eight total points earned and 2-2-1 record. The only defeat came in the round 2 on the road against current leader Borussia Dortmund (2:0). Their goal difference so far is 6-5 (1-3 on the road). There is a couple of players that are underperforming lately, like their first choice at center-forward position Vedad Ibisevic who hasn’t manage to get himself on the scoreboard yet but in general, the team is performing solidly for now.
Julisu Kade (muscle) and Valentino Lazaro (ankle) are listed as doubtful for Saturday while Dennis Smarsch’s (cruciate ligament) status is unknown. Davie Selke (toe) is listed as day to day while Jonathan Klinsmann (ankle) and Julian Schieber (knee) are back in training.
FSV Mainz 05 vs. Hertha BSC – Match Prediction
The Mainz team was pretty unlucky on Wednesday when they conceded the game-losing goal in the final minute of the match against Hoffenheim and I don’t think that they are going to record another home loss just two days after. My first guess here is both teams score but I wouldn’t be surprised if the home team finally gets a full pray.
My pick: Both teams score (-105)
Additional pick: FSV Mainz 05 (+150)
TSG Hoffenheim 1899 vs. Schalke 04
Three-Way: 1: TSG Hoffenheim 1899 +135; X: +261 Draw; Shalke 04 +245
Spread -0.5: TSG Hoffenheim 1899 +127; Schalke 04 -130
Total +2.5: Over -115; Under +112
TSG HOFFENHEIM 1899
The Blues from Sinsheim continued to be one of three undefeated teams in the German Bundesliga 2017 season after another round of play that now stretches to five games. Team ranks at No. three spot in the league table with 11 total points earned and 3-2-0 record. Their overall goal difference is 9-5 (4-1 at home). Especially satisfying was the round 3 win over defending champions Bayern Munich (2:0) that provided the much-needed boost of confidence that is obviously having a very fine effect on the players. Along with two wins, Hoffenheim also has one draw so far at home against Hertha BSC last weekend but there is no doubt that Julan Nagelsmann’s team will go for three points here.
Robert Zulj’s (hip) status is unknown while Ermin Bicakcis (knee) and Serge Gnabry (ankle) are listed as doubtful for Saturday. Stefan Posch (ankle) is day to day.
SCHALKE 04
The full pray or nothing is the Schalke 04 team modus operandi so far as they have three wins and two losses so far in the Bundesliga with no draws. On Tuesday they suffered their first home loss that was inflicted on them by the defending Bundesliga champion Bayern Munich (0:3). They currently rank at very good No. 6 spot in the league table with nine total points earned and 7-6 goal difference (2-2 on the road). One of the most unpredictable teams last year has finally come to some sort of stability having in mind that they haven’t yet recorded any unusual results like losing at home against respectably weaker teams and winning on the road against respectably stronger squads.
Nabil Bentaleb’s (muscle) and Donis Avdijaj (ankle) status is unknown while Luke Hemmerich (foot) is listed as day to day. They are all questionable for Saturday’s matchup.
TSG Hoffenheim 1899 vs. Schalke 04 – Match Prediction
Schalke 04 team hasn’t yet recorded a draw this season and it might be the time for this type of scenario to play out. On the other side Hoffenheim team is no stranger to draws this season as they already have two of those recorded. That is why my first guess here will be a draw. Both teams score also looks like a quality pick.
My pick: Draw X (+261)
Additional pick: Both teams score (-135)
RB Leipzig vs. Eintracht Frankfurt
Three-Way: 1: RB Leipzig -122; X: +300 Draw; Eintracht Frankfurt +450
Spread -0.5: RB Leipzig -137; Eintracht frankfurt +133
Total +2.5: Over -112; Under +110
RB LEIPZIG
The RB Leipzig team is obviously not on the same level of performance like last year as they have already recorded two losses and the last one was pretty unexpected one as they got defeated in Augsburg by the host. Battle on two fronts is taking its toll on the team’s performance and repeating the last season’s success starts to look for now. They are currently ranked at No. 9 spot in the Bundesliga table with seven total points and a 2-1-2 record. Their goal difference is 8-6 (6-3 at home).
Naby Keita is still unavailable to coach Ralph Hasenhuttl as he’s suspended for two more games while jean Kevin Augustin (toe) and Fabio Coltorti (muscle) are both listed as doubtful for Saturday. Emil Forsberg (muscle) is back in training and will be in the squad for the upcoming duel.
EINTRACHT FRANKFURT
The Eintracht Frankfurt team is the highest ranked squad in the German Bundesliga table with no home win recorded so far. They rank at No. 10 spot with a 2-1-2 record and seven total points earned and their both wins came on the road against Monchengladbach (1:0) ten days ago and against FC Koln (1:0) on Wednesday. As a matter of fact, they are undefeated on the road with a season-opening goalless draw against SC Freiburg. Their total goal difference is 3-3 and they still haven’t conceded a goal when visiting while scoring two so far. This lopsided record must come to an end once and that could very likely be on Saturday as they’re visiting the team that has enough juice but is still in the search of optimal form.
Four of Frankfurt’s five Bundesliga matchups had fewer than 1.5 goals in total while only one had over 2.5 goals in total.
Max Besuschkow (groin) should be back in a few days while Danny Vieira da Costa’s (thigh) timetable for return is set in early November. Alexander Meier (ankle) should be back in early October while Omar Mascarell (Achilles tendon) will be absent until January next year. Ante Rebic (unknown) is listed as doubtful while Yanni Regasel’s (back) status is unknown. Danny Blum (neck) is day to day while Leon Batge is back in training.
RB Leipzig vs. Eintracht Frankfurt – Match Prediction
Frankfurt’s undefeated run on the road must come to an end once and my guess is that it will happen this weekend. Still, I’m not sure how will the home team react to the upset loss during the midweek against FC Augsburg so we should probably tread carefully. The first pick will be over 2.5 goals in total while additional goes to the home team win.
My pick: Over 2.5 goals (-112)
Additional pick: RB Leipzig to win (-122)
