GERMAN BUNDESLIGA – Two Match Preview (Round 10)

Bundesliga

On Saturday, the busiest day in German Bundesliga schedule there will be six matchups and in this preview, we bring you the analysis of the duels that will take place at HDI Arena and Olympic Stadium in Berlin. The host n the first matchup is coming off from a very important 2:1 road win in Augsburg that ended the four-game winless streak for the newcomers while Dortmund recorded another week without a win with a 2:2 draw in Frankfurt.

The second matchup features Hertha BSC team that is currently riding a four-game winless streak after a 1:1 draw in Freiburg last weekend and HSV team which is winless in last seven games, earning only one point during this span. IN last round, they were defeated at home by Bayern Munich (0:1). It’s money-earning time so let’s take a closer look.

                                                               Hannover 96 vs. Dortmund

Three-Way: 1: Hannover 96 +560; X: +365 Draw; Dortmund -154 at BetDSI Sportsbook

Spread +1: Hannover 96 +108; Dortmund -112

Total +3.5: Over +129; Under -141

HANNOVER 96

After a period of poor results that lasted about a month in which the Hannover 96 team was winless recording two losses and two draws, a victory on the road last Saturday against FC Augsburg presented much-needed refreshment for the fans. When we look the entire picture, the newcomers to the Bundesliga are on a good path of accomplishing their first objective of the season, survival in the top tier of German soccer competition.

The team currently ranks at No. 6 spot in the Bundesliga table with 15 points in nine games and a 4-3-2 record (2-1-1 at home) and a 10-7 goal difference (4-2 at home). 66% of their matches had under 2.5 goals in total while 50% of their home games had under 1.5 goals in total. They’ve managed to concede at least one goal in both halves in only one game so far while both teams scored in 56% of their overall duels.

Forward Martin Harnik is the teams’ leading scorer with five goals while Niclas Fullkrug has two in his account. Pirmin Schwegler collected team-high two assists so far while passing segment belongs to defender Salif Sane with 366 total passes. Goalie Philipp Tschauner has 129 shots against, 30 saves and four games with clean sheets so far.

Felipe (thigh) and Edgar Prib (cruciate ligament) will not see any action until January and February next year while Noah-Joel Sarenren-Bazee should be available in few days. Miiko Albornoz (thigh) and Uffe Bech (knee) are listed as day to day.

DORTMUND

Dortmund team on the other side has definitely entered the period of bad results as they’re winless in last two rounds in the Bundesliga, recording a home loss against RB Leipzig (2:3) and a road draw against Eintracht Frankfurt (2:2). When we add poor performances in the UEFA Champions League where the team has only one point earned after three rounds, the picture becomes clearer. Coach Peter Bosz has a lot of problems with injuries of his players but that must not be an excuse for underperforming.

The team is still at ranked at the top of the Bundesliga caravan but only thanks to their superior goal difference (25-7) because they have the same amount of points earned like second-ranked Bayern Munich (20). They are 6-2-1 (3-2-0 on the road) and 78% of their matches had over 2.5 goals in total while 20% of their road games had over 3.5 goals in total. Every third Dortmund’s duel has over 2.5 goals at half-time while both teams scored in 56% of their games.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang tops the team and the league with 10 goals so far while Maximilian Philipp has five in his account. Mahmoud Dahoud is the teams’ top assister with three while Andriy Yarmolenko and Mario Gotze have two each. The most dominant passer is Sokratis with 632 total passes while goalkeeper Roman Burki has 73 shots against, 26 saves and five games with clean sheets.

Sokratis is suspended for the next match (cards suspension) while Lukasz Piszczek (knee) and Hendrik Bonmann (knee) should be available during the next month. Marco Reus (cruciate ligament)is expected to be back in March next year while Omer Toprak (thigh) is listed as day to day. Mahmoud Dahoud’s (neck), Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s (muscle), Sebastian Rode’s (groin) and Eric Durm’s (hip) status is unknown.

Hannover 96 vs. Dortmund – Match Prediction

Although Hannover doesn’t score very often, I think that over 2.5 goals in total is a no-brainer. Dortmund defeated Magdeburg in DFB Pokal competition on Tuesday (5:0) while Hannover recorded a road loss against Wolfsburg and their confidence might be a little shaken. That’s the reason I will go with guests’ win as an additional pick.

My pick: Over 3.5 goals (+129)

                                                              Hertha BSC vs. Hamburger SV

Three-Way: 1: Hertha BSC +100; X: +270 Draw; Hamburger SV +370

Spread -0.5 Hertha BSC -106; Hamburger SV +100

Total +2.5: Over +129; Under -137

 HERTHA BSC

The Hertha Berlin is definitely not the same team it was a season ago when they managed to earn a UEFA Europa League berth throughout the Bundesliga competition. They are stringing one winless streak after another and the most recent one includes last four rounds. Something needs to change quickly if the Blue-Whites want to be a contender for the top of the table again.

They currently rank at No. 11 spot in the Bundesliga with 10 points in nine games and a 2-4-3 record (2-2-1 at home) and a 9-11 goal difference (7-6 at home). 89% of their matches had over 1.5 goals in total but only 22% of those games had over 2.5 goals in total. They’ve managed to concede at least one goal in both halves in 22% of their matchups while both teams scored in 56 of their overall duels.

Mathew Leckie is the teams’ top scorer with four goals while Salomon Kalou has three in his account. Vedad Ibisevic collected team-high three assists while passing segment belongs to defender Marvin Plattenhardt with 362 total passes so far. Goalkeeper Rune Jarstein has 111 shots against, 32 saves and one clean-sheet game at the moment.

Genki Haraguchi (card suspension) is unavailable for the next match while Mathew Leckie’s (thigh) and Vladimir Darida’s (knee) status is unknown. Maximilian Mittelstadt (broken nose) and Sebastian Langkamp (calf) should be back in few days while Valentin Stocker (knee) is listed as day to day. Julian Schieber (knee) is back in training.

HAMBURGER SV

The Hamburger SV team is one of the three teams (along Werder Bremen and FC Koln) with worse season start in German Bundesliga this year. After two initial wins that raised some hopes in the eyes of their fans, HSV is winless in last seven rounds, recording six losses and one goalless draw. During these seven games they also scored only two goals while conceding 14.

Currently, they rank below the relegation line with seven points in nine games and a 2-1-6 record (1-0-3 on the road) and 6-15 goal difference (5-9 on as visitors). 44% of their matches had over 2.5 goals in total but 50% of their away games had over 3.5 goals in total. They’ve managed to concede at least one goal in both halves in every second road duel while both teams scored in 22% of their overall games.

No HSV’s player has yet scored two goals but Andre Hahn, Lewis Holtby, Nicolai Muller, Sejad Salihovic, Wallace and Bobby Wood all have one each in their accounts. Walace and Albin EKdal have one assist each while most dominant passer is Dennis Diekmeier with 206 total passes so far. Goalie Christian Mathenia has 145 shots against, 22 saves and two clean-sheet games at the moment.

Gideon Jung (card suspension) will be unavailable for next to matches while Niocali Muller (cruciate ligament) is expected to be back in late February. Pierre-Michael Lasogga (thigh) is listed as day to day while Andreas Hirzel’s (Flu) and Vasilije Janjicic’s (Virus) status is unknown. Albin Ekdal (back) and Sejad Salihovic (ankle) are back in training.

Hertha BSC vs. Hamburger SV – Match Prediction.

When it comes to the total number of goals scored, I would go with under 2.5 here because both teams are having some problems lately. HSV is in a winless streak while Hertha suffered a defeat by drowning FC Koln on Wednesday in German Cup at home (1:3). A draw as a final result also makes perfect sense.       My pick: Under 2.5 goals (-137)

Additional pick: Draw (+270)
