Even on a good day, Giancarlo Stanton can’t get away from the strikeout discussion. The New York Yankees acquired the slugger in the offseason in what was supposed to make a murderer’s row along with Aaron Judge and the rest of the Yankees bats. However, Stanton has been doing more whiffing than hitting, which has a lot of Yankees fans concerned. So much so that BetDSI Sportsbook has revealed a list of Stanton strikeout props. He is currently on pace to set the record for most strikeouts in a season.

Stanton had arguably his best game of the season on Thursday night, going three-for-four while hitting a pair of home runs. However, he still struck out once. That now gives him 47 strikeouts on the season in just 30 games, which is incredible. Prior to today’s breakout, he had seven strikeouts with just one hit in his previous 11 at-bats. His 47 strikeouts are the second-most in all of baseball only behind Yoan Moncada. However, Moncada has been in nine less at-bats and has just one more strikeout.
The question is will Stanton keep this up? The pressure is mounting on him to deliver and a lot of Yankees fans are wondering whether they’re going to regret this acquisition. We’ve seen this many times where players are just not built for the New York spotlight. Stanton seemed like he’d be fine with the limelight but so far, he hasn’t gotten it together. On the year, he’s batting just .240 with a meager .316 on-base percentage. He batted just .218 in the month of April, which is pretty ugly.
Hopefully he turns it around in May as the weather warms up. And the fact that he has seven home runs – the same as Judge – is a good sign. We’ll see if Stanton can snap out of it or if he continues to disappoint as the season progresses.
