The New York Giants and the entire football world could be getting back one of it’s biggest superstars in time for Sunday’s action. Indeed, Saquon Barkley sounds ready to play.
He spoke after practice on Thursday with a number of reporters that cover the team. Undeniably, if you read between the lines; the former first-round pick is going to be suiting up for the Giants on Sunday when they take on the Arizona Cardinals.
Saquon Barkley: “I’m taking it day by day and I guess we’ll see.”
And a smirk.#NYGiants won’t commit publicly to Barkley playing and neither will he.
That said: I don’t see anything that will keep him off the field Sunday. pic.twitter.com/QE53LfTcus— Art Stapleton (@art_stapleton) October 17, 2019
Barkley smirked, and then said this:
“I’m taking it day by day and I guess we’ll see.”
Furthermore, Barkley said he’s really feeling urgency to get back on the field. How bad and how soon does he want to be back out there with his teammates?
“Really bad,” he said. “That is every Sunday. Every Thursday. Any time we get a chance to play the game.”
This would be the first full game in which the Giants had Barkley, rookie quarterback Daniel Jones, and wide receiver Golden Tate all in the lineup and healthy. What’s more, they could be in the thick of things with a win. Currently at 2-4, both division leaders Philadelphia and Dallas play on Sunday night sitting at 3-3 respectively.
Thus far in 2019, Barkley has 37 carries for 237 yards and a touchdown on the ground. Fantasy football owners should be feeling good about penciling him in for Sunday’s action, even with that ‘questionable’ next to his name.
Again, if you’re simply reading between the lines at this stage in the week.
