In the Warriors’ last matchup, they were beaten by the Toronto Raptors, 131-128, but they did cover as 9.5-point underdogs. The combined points for the game (259) finished well over the projected point total of 223. Converting at the free throw line was one of Toronto’s largest advantages. They were 22-24 (91.7 percent), while the Warriors were 17-20 (85.0 percent). Kevin Durant was the top scorer from either team with 51 points on 18-for-31 shooting.

The Pistons won big over the Chicago Bulls in their last matchup, 107-88, comfortably covering as 7.5-point favorites. The total points for the game (195) finished well under the projected point total of 220.5. The Pistons held the Bulls to an offensive rebounding percentage of 15.2 (below the 20.4 mark opponents have averaged against Detroit this season) and had a better turnover percentage (11.6 vs. 14.0). With 19 points and 20 rebounds, Detroit’s Andre Drummond had a solid outing.

It will be a battle of contrasting styles as the up-tempo Pistons will look to push the slower-paced Warriors. The Pistons currently rank ninth in possessions per game while the Warriors are 19th.

Golden State is 15-8 straight up (SU), but they have trouble covering the spread (10-13 against the spread (ATS)). Of the Warriors’ 23 games, 13 have gone over the total.

Meanwhile, Detroit is 12-7 SU and 10-8 ATS. Pistons games also tend to go over the total (61.1 percent).

Durant and Klay Thompson have been playing well over the last five games for Golden State. Durant has averaged 36 points,10.4 rebounds,6.4 assists,2.2 blocks,1.2 steals per game. Not to be outdone, Thompson has recorded 29 points a game during that span.

After splitting two games last season, this will be the first matchup of the year between these two teams. The Warriors won the most recent contest 102-98. Golden State did a fantastic job of converting from the free throw line (17-22; 77.3 percent). Detroit, on the other hand, had a much better offensive rebounding percentage (27.3 vs. 12.8).
