Golden State Warriors vs. Detroit Pistons Betting Prediction

The Warriors come in on a high note after beating the Charlotte Hornets in their last game, 101-87. Golden State held the Hornets to an effective field goal percentage of 0.381 (below their season average of 0.495). Charlotte, meanwhile, had a much better offensive rebounding percentage (26.4 vs. 18.6). Golden State received a boost from Kevin Durant, who put up 35 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists. This gave him his zeroth triple-double of the season.

In the Pistons’ last game, they were beaten by the Milwaukee Bucks, 104-100. Milwaukee’s effective field goal percentage was their largest strength over Detroit. The Bucks had a rate of 0.544 (above their season average of 0.534), while the Pistons posted a mark of 0.471 (below their season average of 0.523). With 27 points on 12-for-16 shooting, Andre Drummond was the top scorer from either team.

It will be a matchup of conflicting paces as the up-tempo Warriors will look to push the slower-paced Pistons. The Warriors currently rank fifth in possessions per game while the Pistons are 23rd.

Golden State heads into the contest with records of 20-6 straight up (SU) and 13-13 against the spread (ATS). Vegas has a tendency to set the total low when the Warriors are involved, as 15 of their 26 games have gone over the O/U total.

Meanwhile, Detroit owns records of 14-10 SU and 15-7-2 ATS. Unlike Golden State, a little over half of Pistons games have finished under the O/U total.

This is the second game of the season between these two teams. Durant put up 28 points and six rebounds in the first matchup, in which the Warriors lost 115-107, unable to cover as 14.5-point favorites. The game finished with a total of 222 points, which was just 1 points above the projected point total of 221 points. The Pistons had a much better turnover percentage (11.5 vs. 23.3) and had a better free throw rate (0.183 vs. 0.117).
