It looks like NFL fans won’t miss out on getting to hear Tony Romo’s commentary on Sunday after all. CBS had originally granted Romo a sponsorship exception to participate in the Safeway Open at Silverado Resort this weekend, which would have included Sunday if he made the cut.
After Thursday, that was looking like a real possibility as Romo was two-under par with five birdies on the day. That performance was good enough to put him in a tie for 20th place and just five shots behind Adam Scott, who was leading the tournament at the time.
If Tony Romo wins the Safeway Open, I will delete my Twitter account.

Then, it seemed as if we were watching his NFL career all over again. Romo shot six-over par 78 in the second round, which put him at -4 for the tournament and knocked him down from 20th to 113th, causing him to miss the cut.

This means Romo’s PGA Tour dreams will be on hold, at least for the moment, and will be doing his CBS broadcast with Jim Nantz in Chicago on Sunday, and NFL fans wouldn’t have it any other way.
