Burroughs starts Podcast #41 by discussing last week’s action in the world of golf. Jon Rahm picked up his first career win by coming from 3-shots back starting the final round to secure the win. The 22-year old shot 30 on the final nine that included two eagles to win by three shots. Elsewhere, Jeung-hun Wang survived in a sudden death playoff to defeat Jaco Van Zyl and Peter Lagergren to earn his third career European Tour victory. Wang is another youngster, just 21-years old. The LPGA rolled into action at the Pure Silk Bahamas Tournament and Brittany Lincicome beat fellow American Lexi Thompson in a sudden death playoff to pick up the win.
Burroughs talks about last week’s golf picks which were 4-2, making the year-to- date picks 16-5- 3. Our host discusses this week’s action on all the tours across the world. The European Tour finishes up its three week swing in the Middle East. The PGA Tour continues on the West Coast and travels to Scottsdale, Arizona for the 2017 Waste Management Phoenix Open.
Burroughs Picks:
JON RAHM +1650 – Don’t be surprised if the young Spaniard backs up last week’s win with another one this week in Scottsdale. Rahm went to college at nearby Arizona State and is familiar with the TPC Scottsdale layout. The 22-year old is the real deal – hits it a mile and is a great putter. More wins are going to come.
PHIL MICKELSON +2250 made 20 birdies last week in San Diego so the rust is off the clubs and his health appears to be back on track. Lefty loves playing here, where he went to college and where he’s won three times. Put Mickelson in your fantasy lineups and bet him in the golf matchups.
TV Coverage: Waste Management Phoenix Open – Golf Channel – Thursday-Friday, 3-7 p.m. ET.
