Burroughs starts Podcast #44 by taking us through last week’s action in the world of golf.
Rickie Fowler is back in the spotlight at the Honda Classic and comes up big, notching his fourth career title. Clutch putting and positive thinking paved the way for the former Oklahoma State star.
Last week on the European Tour, Darren Fichardt won his sixth tournament of his career by making birdie on the last hole to claim the rain-shortened Joburg Open.
The LPGA Tour was in Thailand and Amy Yang won for the second time in the last three years and in doing so, set a tournament record of 22-under par.
Burroughs makes his picks for the week as well as helping you set your fantasy team. Our host had his first losing week with a 2-3-1 record and stands 26-11-5 on the year. Burroughs dishes on this week’s action on all the tours across the world.
Mexico hosts its first ever World Golf Championship at the Club de Golf Chapultepec just outside Mexico City. All the elite players are on hand, a list that includes 49 of the top 50 in the Official World Rankings
The European Tour stays in South Africa for the second consecutive week and fourth overall at the Tshwane Open. LPGA and champions Tour are off this week.
Burroughs Predictions for WGC – Mexico Championship
Gary Woodland +3600 has been knocking on the door and offers gamers the best VALUE on the board. The long-hitting Kansan was in the mix last week at The Honda Classic before settling for a T2, his second runner-up to start the year. He also has a T5 and T6 this year. He won the Barracuda Classic in 2013, so he knows a thing or two about playing in elevation. I love Woodland this week!
Tyrrell Hatton +4800 got a taste for what it’s like to play in the last group on Sunday on the PGA Tour when he was paired with eventual champion Rickie Fowler at the Honda Classic. The Englishman got off to a shaky start but hung in there and finished T4. He’s been red-hot with six top 10’s in his last nine starts worldwide. The kid is a ball-striking machine that plays by feel.
STAY AWAY
Rory McIlroy +950 is back in action this week after taking several weeks off to tend to sore ribs. Anytime a player takes time off to heal, it takes time to get back in the groove. McIlroy will likely be in one of the “power matchups” paired up against the likes of Jordan Spieth and Dustin Johnson and won’t be up to the task. FADE RORY!
If Danny Willett +12500 is on the board, do yourself a favor and FADE him. The current Masters champ has lost his game, is fading fast and is not an elite player. Last week, he missed the cut and lost his matchup against fellow Englishman Matthew Fitzpatrick. “One hit Wonder” Willett is not worth a look in any format.
