Burroughs starts Podcast #69 by talking about the FedEx Cup Playoffs, the Presidents Cup and
all the latest news in the golfing world.
Our host talks about this week’s events on all three tours. First up, the PGA Tour starts a new year in Napa, California at the Safeway Championship. The European Tour heads to The Scotland for the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship and the PGA Tour is off this week.
Burroughs makes his picks for the week, as well as helping you set your fantasy team. Our host record for the year was 118-85-12 – that’s +33 units! This week the ledger is reset and picks start from scratch. Burroughs dishes on this week’s action on all the tours across the world, in addition to helping set your fantasy card.
Should be another exciting week in golf!

Phil Mickelson +1400 is going to win again before he retires and this is the week. Fresh off of leading Team USA to a 19-11 win in the Presidents Cup, Lefty is primed to compete and get a win. He finished T8 here a year ago and he says he’s feeling strong and ready to complete at a high level. He’s won every other tournament in his home state and adds this one to his illustrious career.
VALUE PICK
Another player to keep your eye on is Chez Reavie +3200. He quietly plays well almost every week. Last year he had 11 top 25’s and made it all the way to the TOUR Championship. He finished T22 last year in Napa and T17 in 2015. Reavie is worth a look in all formats, because he can adjust to any conditions.
MATCHUPS of the WEEK (Odds courtesy of BetDSI)
Phil Mickelson EV vs. Tony Finau -120
Phil Mickelson -110 vs. Webb Simpson -110
We will call this the Safeway Open Daily Double. Take Mickelson against both players. Phil has to be on a high after playing so well at the President’s Cup and you know he’s thinking it’s time to get back in the winner’s circle. He’s won every other tournament played in his home state of California, so this week, he adds the Safeway Open trophy to his resume. Take the Lefty!
Brendan Steele -125 vs. Ryan Moore
Steele loves this track. A second two years ago and a win last year. He’s the horse for the course this week in Napa. Moore is probably the better player over the course of a year, but doesn’t stand a chance playing Steele on his favorite course. Steele one here, take Brendan!
